Typewriters were out by the time I learnt to type thankfully. School had BBC computers when in Year 8 (1986), but had progressed to PC’s by time were one of the first to get to do a dedicated computer subject in Year 11.

At least at my kids high school every kid needed/needs to bring a laptop, so I’m surprised typing isn’t part of the curriculum in year 7 or 8. Learning to touch type around the time starting University, has saved many times more hours over the years, then learning it took. I don’t have a need to type fast enough, often enough, to improve from my pedestrian 60wpm, but that sure beats typing things out slowly, even for posting places like BigFooty.

I feel old seeing late night reruns of The OC pop up n TV.

With the sort of realistic casting you expected from Hollywood in those days high school kids were played by 25 year olds and their parents were played by 30-somethings. The age gap between Rachel Bilson and Melinda Clarke is 12 years, and between Adam Brody and Kelly Rowan is 14 years. Looool.

Was never a huge fan of the show but seeing it 20 years later the hot "teenagers" look like kids and the hot mums are roughly my age.

When I did my undergraduate degree all I has was an electric typewriter. Measuring out how much I needed to leave at the bottom of the page for footnotes was such a pain in the arse.

Apparently its World Simpsons Day

There are 2 generations now who have never not known Simpsons

I remember when viral meant water cooler or work coffee area - and there was a lot of buzz in the first season about that rude boy and murderous father

And a whole generation, if they've only watched stuff as released and no old episodes, that have barely seen a decent episode. It's crazy that 'old' Simpsons (Seasons 1 - 10), when it was a clever show with jokes aimed at multiple levels, with something for both kids and adults is over 25 years ago. Over a quarter a century of 'phoning it in' with crude slapstick as almost it's only means of humour.

I visited my old Hoyts I worked at yesterday

The young new cinema worker at the candy bar could have picked up her jaw off the floor a bit when I told her I worked there in 1996 ffs
''omg this grandma come in today and said she worked here before my dad was born ''

i watched the Simpsons all the time until the movie, then barely watched it and probably been 10 years since I have seen an episode, they didn't seem as funny to me anymore
