20 K and 26 K for a BBQ?

You can't redo for kitchen for those prices with decent oven/ cook top etc .
I was in Harrods and I saw a fifty thousand quid bbq, it was the 90s so f*** knows what it would cost now but it was round with a fifteen metre diameter with a bunch of different stations around it. It was an undeniable thing of beauty.

Wow.

We put in a new kitchen .
The whole process was not great.

They said there will a cost to remove and take the old one.So I sold it on MP.
Then 2 guys came to take it and there was no cost.

Took plans to the kitchen people they were not happy with the plans.
So young lady came over .
I said don't change to much just want better.
I've also designed the kitchen please make it better.
About a hour and half totally changed everything...WTF .
Took to the 3rd plan to get it right.
3.5 hours later.

Then they had to come back because they didn't finish it.

Wasn't cheap either.

Im toying with replacing my hard wood kitchen benchtop with stone. Exact same shape size, remove and replace with just a brand new sink undermount.
Hoping it wont be too annoying a process. 🤞🏻

My parents did the cheap-o alternative - replaced a 70's style thick YELLOW wooden benchtop. To a wooden black top that was 3/4 thinner than the old one. However what they did since (15ish years later) was they covered OVER the black wooden top with imitation stone covering. Looks crazy expensive, even though it's not really lol.

Sometimes you just have to think if the cost is worth it.
bang for buck.

I was lucky to get a cheap kitchen once.
Bloke said I'll do it for cash so my ex can't get any money out of me ..

You don't seem tight as your Olds .

I think I just inherited my grand parents spending habits. That said for everything that I do buy..... I save a lot week by week as well.

And with their kitchen "makeover" it was more not wanting to do a huge renovation and putting up with a mess vs being tight with money.

My budgeting skills are great Albo should make me treasurer - Hawthorn guernseys for everyone!

I would love to bomb my kitchen - I hate it

First week we moved in to a freshly built house .
I was cooking up rice ,pasta and veg for the doggies .
Took my eyes off the stove .
And burnt a hole in the bench ...whoops .

You get what you pay for with most things. If you are on a budget like most people you just need to break down the costs and decide where you really want to spend your money. I've done a few renos over the years and have never regretted buying taps for $200 instead of $50, but by the same token have tiled an entire bathroom floor to ceiling with tiles that were $20/sqm and it looked great.

The cheapest option is usually pretty well known. If you can buy something at Bunnings or Ikea or Kmart and put it together yourself there isn't much more you can do to make it cheaper. At the other end of the scale, what you think is expensive doesn't even enter the conversation for others. How much is a bar fridge you (don't) ask? JB Hifi, dearest is $800. Inside use only. Good Guys have one for $1800, 190 litre two door outdoor fridge with glass doors. I'd be pretty happy with that. Winning Appliances, $17,000 for a little Smeg fridge shaped like a Fiat. They also have an $8,000 front load washing machine and a $23,000 double pyrolitic oven.

I don't understand who buys that stuff but somebody does otherwise the store would be out of business holding millions in inventory. All it tells me is that if someone will buy a $20,000 appliance then someone else will buy a $50,000 one. And up it goes.

We did that imitation stone for a pretty ****ing large kitchen, island and l shaped wrap around. Cut, measure, install with a new concrete undermount sink was like $6k. It genuinely looks like a completely new space though

Yeh. I think a sandback and relaquer will cost $1500+ and repeatevery 5-7 years. Stone will last forever

We're doing exactly the same at the moment. Been waiting 2 weeks for stone bench tops so BBQs are getting a bit tiresome. We took our old one out ourselves and flogged it off for a couple grand so that was a bonus. Upon reflection im not sure what was wrong with our old kitchen seeing that it was only 15 years old but i am wrong clearly

We got really lucky in that we managed to co-ordinate demo/install over 2 consecutive days so only went one night without (although we had to do the reconnect of the stovetop so technically two nights)
