Very strange. Search & Rescue for downed Assad jet?
Whoever gets into power will get a sweet, sweet, sweet cash injection to get this and country running again. Pity it will instantly corrupt those taking power.
Yes.Hasn't it been reported he's been granted asylum by Russia?

An Iranian oil tanker bound for Syria abruptly turned around in the Red Sea on Sunday morning, heading back to Iran after reports emerged that the Assad government had fallen, ship tracking data from MarineTraffic shows. The vessel, the Lotus, which came under U.S. sanctions less than a month ago, was carrying about 750,000 barrels of crude oil, according to TankerTrackers.com, which monitors global shipping.
Samir Madani, the site’s co-founder, said that the ship’s sudden reversal could further deepen Syria’s existing fuel shortages. “I guess we can start speaking about Iranian oil going to Syria in the past tense now,” he added.
NYT reporting Russian state media and two Iranian officals have said Al-Asaad is in Moscow, but haven't been able to independently confirm this.
Also this is another issue that's likely to get worse before it gets better for Syrian people;
Who has control of Syrian oil fields now? I see Erdogan has been accused of smuggling Syrian oil via Turkey onto world markets.
Surprised a pipeline hadn't been constructed across Iraqi territory between Iran & Syria.

Mostly they appear to be around the Eastern border.
They don't appear to have massive reserves by global standards; ~ 2.5bn barrels is the same amount as somewhere like the UK and Australia (depending which measure you take) who aren't exactly global oil powerhouses.
The US has ~ 74bn, Russia ~80bn, Canada ~170bn, Iran and Iraq both ~ 200bn, Saudi Arabia ~ 267bn and Venezuela a whopping ~300bn (which is why the US keeps stuffing around in there).
Syria as a transport route from the Middle East to Europe is massive though, not surprising Russia doesn't want it stabilised.
They are pretty smart, there is reasoning behind Xis support of Putin, Iran, Hamas.etc - he just wants mayhem to cash join economically and distract from what he is doing to Philipines etcAnother thing - Iran now has 750,000 barrels they need a new customer to take. China must be loving this, they'll take it at a knock down price.
Israel and Russia are bombing the crap out of Syria just days after liberation from a butcher.
Yet Israel and Russia will be the first to complain if the new Syrian regime isn't peaceful.
Russians are trying to do a deal with the rebels for continued use of Khmemimm airbase & Tartus naval base.
Not a good look for Assad if those who are hosting him are doing deals with his direct enemy. Basically, it appears the Russians have decided there's no need to prop up Assad to keep their bases in Syria.
I think Iran will have to write it off as a bad debt...
yeah, sure you do. odd that not even the press pack take you seriously. you pick and choose. you are hypocrites.
