3D printing of body parts is the next phase in health care according to this Sydney doctor who had to remove part of a bloke's vertebrae because of a cancer tumor and replace it with a 3D printed vertebrae

"The surgery that we're doing today is a particularly complicated and long and difficult surgery," Dr Mobbs said on Monday.

"It involves exposure at the top of the neck, where the neck and the head meet, and it's essentially [detaching] the patient's head from his neck and taking the tumour out and reattaching his head back to his neck."

Wow. I am looking at carbon fibre disc replacement in the next couple of years as the only solution to my back problems. The stuff they can do is amazing, but effectively detaching the head is next level.

I have hopes of waking up and finding out I have super powers of some sort, become immortal or get drafted to play for Port

How many times average household income it takes to buy an average house/unit of accommodation in Oz captial cities over the last 35 years.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-25/housing-costs-in-australia-second-only-to-hong-kong/7111490
Surging house prices in Sydney and Melbourne have helped keep Australia near the top of an annual list of the world's least affordable countries.

Key points:
  • The typical Australian house costs 5.6 times the median household income
  • Only Hong Kong (19) is less affordable; with New Zealand (5.2) and the UK (5.1) close behind Australia
  • Sydney is the second least affordable city in the world, with prices 12.2 times incomes
Australia is second only to Hong Kong for housing costs, with the Asian banking hub occupying a unique position given its high-income elite, miniscule size and proximity to mainland China.

Demographia's annual survey of property markets in eight countries (and one "special administrative region" within China - Hong Kong) shows the typical Australian house costs 5.6 times the median household income.

We want to move to a place locally with a yard for the kids. Found a place just off the Balmain Peninsula that suits our needs, 4br 3bth 2p and a yard...

2.7mil is the guide and they are going to auction next week.

The worlds gone mad.

Last year I saw a story about a bloke in Syria being picked off by a snipper having his jaw blown away by a bullet and they rushed him to an Israeli hospital and they made made a new bottom jaw by using titanium powder and a 3D printer to re-build the lower jaw. Found the 2 posts I made in this thread about it 12 months ago.

Hopefully your current property has gone up enough so you dont have go sell a kidney to finance the difference between selling and buying price.

We bought at 1.225 and the bank valued recently at 1.7 and banks always value a bit lower so yeah there will be a profit but **** me 2.7 for a house in Rozelle?

I'm just a battler from the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia's heartland.

Dan's place at Kingsgrove has gone from $730k to $1.3mil in 3.5 years and most of that in the last 18 months. As he said, its shear madness and he lucked out buying when he did.

Malcolm has been banging on in parliament the last 2 days that Labor's negative gearing plans will DRIVE down house prices.. I've been waiting for a loud Pig's Arse to come from the back bench and someone kicked out of the house. But nothing so far.

And 4 months after the February 2015 BBC story I relinked above, there was this one on the ABC about a Melbourne block who was missing part of his jawbone including the left condyle, the joint to the skull.

Geez I had to get some scans done on my back today due to pain in my mid spine. If I had seen this before my scan I would have taken it as a bad omen. Luckily enough in a weird way what I've read from my results it seems to be a stress fracture I believe causing my pain.

How is Ghost in that small a font size

Their last album was a bit pedestrian.

The saturday looks incredible. Deftones, milk teeth, architects, bury tomorrow, down, neck deep, pennywise, skindred. Lurve it

!!!

It's got some pearlers! Pinnacle, He Is, Cirice, Absolution, etc. Better than Infestis for sure, but they'll probably never top their first album.

Have you heard the singer's old band's rock album? It's pretty good. Going by the common presence in his bands, the guy can write some catchy numbers.

i just cannot get into Ghost, and I tried really hard. They seem like a band I should like.

I find it impossible to believe that anyone not proactively disliking them because they're edgy kvlt noobs can't get into 'em. Everything they write is instantly catchy.

Probably my favourite from Meliora.

Basically try harder:rainbow:

I just had some sort of epiphany.

On reflection, Powerage is a rather uncharacteristically dark album, with themes of murder, poverty, heartbreak, I think I realised why it is my favourite Acca Dacca record. It is like, all the things I love about Acca Dacca, minus some of the things I dislike about Acca Dacca. Wow.

I'll keep trying. But,

When it comes to an ultra catchy, occult-tinged nod to the 70's, this band gives me supreme feels:

Basically, Ghost seems like a less necessary thing for my ears now.
