Nice spot up there. I'm over at the first level Members bar on one of the outside tables

There’s still a good chance we can contain our poor performance to 2023 and bounce back, with consistency in coming years.

Depends on the ability of the people running the club to genuinely be humble and self-reflect on their shortcomings.
You can use the pain of a poor year to drive you forward as long as you recognise what went wrong. The list is very young, and footballers are good at driving themselves forward after setbacks - as long as there are good motivators around them. Are our motivators (assistants/head coach) able to do that? Can they find it in themselves to improve or do we need to find better ones? We have a year to find answers to those questions. If there’s a self-preservation culture developing though, then we’re in trouble.

Edit: I’m writing off this year, that doesn’t mean it’s not important though. Geelong 2006, Richmond 2016 etc although this one is unique to Freo and success isn’t guaranteed if the right pieces and the right mindset don’t get put in place. Just saying they definitely can be put in place because our list is young enough and good enough.

Remember we still have potentially the best player in the league in our arsenal. He is not injury prone, but just happened to have some unfortunate ailments in a row. Just hope he has the same level of drive for excellence he had a few years ago.

Maybe it’s just me but I liked what Johnson showed against Brisbane.
Sure that tackle was careless but that one play showed he isn’t Soft.
We need him and Erasmus leading the way with Serong instead of our midfield
getting bullied.
I think if we play our cards right we can find our mojo for next year, but it honestly feels like the coaches are a problem, or lack proper funding?

Watching the Carlton vs Brisbane game. Walker actually did a fantastic job on Cameron last week.

Even better when you take into account the one goal where cox palmed it right to his advantage on the goal line instead of rushing it through. Can't remember the other goal.

Walker is legitimately one of the better defender of smalls in the league when you consider how it's been coming in there this year. I'm going to be harsh but there were some morons on here after the Adelaide game saying Walker is a terrible actual defender, beggars belief...

he gets caught behind in leads a little too much for my liking, but in terms of loose ball open 50 vs the quickest forward he rarely loses
