Booked our Superbowl trip for next year 🙌🙌.
New Orleans, Vegas, New York.

But we are torn between driving from Vegas to Texas, or to Tennessee.

I want Texas for the Eats, but my mates super keen to see Nashville. If anyone has feedback on the two that would be great.

Where in Texas are you thinking? Austin is brilliant.

Best road trip we did in the US was a few days in New Orleans then a one way car rental to LA, finding accommodation on the fly.

There are options on the route but we took in Baton Rouge, Galveston, Houston, Austin, San Antonio (the Alamo), (then a big load of nothing in the SW of Texas), El Paso/Cuidad Juarez, White Sands national park, Tombstone (OK Corral), Tucson, Phoenix, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam.

Who did you get your Superbowl tickets through if you don't mind me asking?

Tough decision, I really liked Nashville over anything I visited in Texas (Austin,Dallas,FW)

But the drive to Texas would probably be more interesting than the drive to Tennessee.

We booked through Onlocation.... they seem to be the ticket supplier as they are advertised on the superdomes website and NFL.

Reviews werent great, and probably overpriced for the package, but seems the best way to secure a ticket.

Yeah I reckon the drive to Texas will be amazing. It's an ongoing argument lol, I'm really keen on Texas BBq lol

If you were are on your own I would say Nashville is the better option.

As a solo traveller I found places in Texas to get boring fairly quickly if you have no one else to hang out with but Austin is a great place if you are hanging out with mates.

The drive from New Orleans to Texas is fun. Austin is a real mixture. Avoid the student areas and head for 6th Street where you can see world class bands for free. We went to a rodeo which included a free BBQ.

One option would be to drive to Texas then fly to Nashville.

So we are doing NY (3 Nights) to start. Then Flying to N.O (3 nights). Fly to Vegas (4 nights) and then driving from Vegas to Texas/Nashville. Trying to hit Route 66.

oh, hello there, im billy ray, you may remember me from such posts as "wooo pumped" or "i saw [x player] at a home open in burleigh]"

im trying to decide on a place to go next May for a birthday trip for a milestone where one would (in cricket terms) raise the bat. just 2 adults

parameters:
length: i am limited to only 7-8 days which kinda rules out i think europe or the us - if im going there i want at least 14 days and i cnt do that long

type: probably not a tropical beach/relaxing holiday because well, thats daily living for me

cost: maybe $5k pp?

what say you guys? what comes to mind with those parameters?

Singapore

With my skills, raising the bat occurred on around 5.

City break? Singapore, Hong Kong the obvious ones.

Bush? Malaysia's Taman Negara, or Cameron Highlands with a stop at Ipoh? Closer to home, Kangaroo Island? Bass Strait islands (King or Flinders) might be a touch cool for a Queenslander by May. I do want to go to Norfolk Island at some point.

Couple of days at each of Auckland and Rotorua?

Maybe Hoi An. Beach nearby if you decide you want it without being a beach town. include a day trip to My Son (come back along the river) for jungle and a history hit. Fly in to Hue and out of Da Nang (both would be via HCMC) or vice versa. Old town is very touristy, but still worth a couple of days.

yeh as just replied to rask, singapore + HK a high option i had thought of
will check out the others you mention - thanks!

yeh was on my list of maybes, possibly a 3-4 days each in singapore and hong kong

With only a week and if you really needed to see 2 places I'd see Singapore and a place close to that (Kuala Lumpur) or Hong Kong and a place close to that (Taiwan)

I'm more thinking if you get delayed at the airport with a longer flight then you might waste a full day of travelling if you only have a week.

But that's just looking at a negative what if.

MT Barney looks alright too.
