Am I reading this right? Going by the reports with a three way trade. Saints give up 6 and next years first for Hill Howard and Ryder. Not bad really. I think Ryder is just about cooked but I rate Hill and Howard has some real potential.

It’s to do with the compromised draft. We’re not in line for anything.

So why can't we just take non-academy players? Is there no Anderson/Ash/Serong/Kemp etc next year? Surely we can extract more value for our 2020 pick if clubs will need it to match bids?

Anyway I like it for no reason other than that we're backing ourselves to bounce back this year. Maybe internally they know that a lack of fitness preparation etc can be resolved in the off season.

Because 11 of the expected top 20 are associated with other clubs. If we finish last and hold 1&2 with a PP , we may only be getting a players worth 13 & 14.

Like the move. We get exactly who we want then its a blanket over the next 5-6 players so we get another from that bunch. Wouldnt mind another pick before 79 or whatever the **** our 3rd pick is

Still doesn't make sense other than some statistical fluke where there are just no good players next year in the states of Victoria, SA, and WA who aren't attached to an academy.

Good trade I reckon we’re backing ourselves in and we clearly only rate the top end of the draft this yr.. we get our 2 1st round picks covered as well
