Autopsy Some promising signs but Hawks too good

Don't agree much with King or Montagna but agree with this 100%

Yeah, I would love to be wrong, but I just don’t see it with McCartin forward.

It would be a fine experiment if we had quality defenders coming out of our ears, but is is literally the position we have the least quality and depth in.

Probably a few be honestly quite small, think I’m heading to our game against the Pies in Melbourne (11th April think it is) having that weekend away as a so called “weekend”. I actually rather do that and catch up with a few of you guys in Mel.
We're playing the Pies in Gather Round that weekend, so you might wonder where everyone is.

Gather round in Adelaide

Arrh that’s the one thought it was Mel yeah I’m not one that bought the tickets my best mate has done that. Nice guy have known him since I was about 5.

King has forever been critical of Horse. Even half way through last season when the Swans were 3 games + % clear of the rest, King would bob up and remind Horse of Horses worst game while playing at North. Its was clear cut 'professional jealousy' - a psychologist would have a field day with King.
half way through last year King was adamant that Brisbane should sack Chris Fagan and through everything at Chris Scott.
Now King is critical of Cox after one game.
  • Hawks had the smallest forward line on record
  • Logan, McLean, Buller all injured or underdone.
  • I doubt Cox would have played one tall short against a fwd line that had tall key forwards
It was certainly not the reason we lost.

King has no right to comment on coaches. He has no idea

The saturation coverage and analysis of the game is ridiculous. King is a joke. He would have zero respect from any of the coaches.

He has no idea on anything apart from CD

What I like about McCartin forward - at least in the short term - is that he has a crack. He lacks forward craft and creativity but on several occasions he made a contest and wasn't afraid to make a run at, and crash packs.

Amartey and McDonald are more natural forwards, but can be too passive - though Amartey had a real go on Friday.

TMac likely goes back once McDonald and/or McLean are fit but hopefully Cox gives the rest of the talls a rocket and expects them to follow Tommy's example.

Agree, plus actually play Hanily who had a good crack

Buckley on SEN this morning had some favourable comments on Tom up forward and the whole set up
I didn't mind him there at all, as Ashep wrote, at least he had a crack and made our forward line a bit more dynamic. But his absence was very noticable down back.

I don’t agree that Amartey was a positive. He isn’t a ball winner in any sense of the word, unless it’s drawing a free kick.
WTF thing to say? Amartey's main role is to kick goals. Three goals per game is enough to put him in the Coleman race. How he wins the ball is irrelevant. If he's awarded a free kick because an umpire judges that opposition defenders broke the rules while trying to stop him, then that's a consequence of desperation by the defenders, it's not a choice of Amartey's.

You're a year too late to question Amartey's ability. Last year he kicked as many goals as Ugle-Hagen as he led our goal-kicking (in his first full season). If Amartey maintains this consistent form of three per game he'll be a major positive for us this year.

Lloyd can kick goals when hes “on” and he can tackle.. Florent is disposable needs to be dropped
I suggest you watch some more of Florent's footy before making such ill-considered comments. Florent copped it huge for that shanked free. A free that he won with a great tackle. Yes it resulted in a goal but it's no worse than McInerney shanking another very gettable kick for goal. A shank that cost us a goal and also gave the ball back to the Hawks.

Mistakes in defence always look worse than mistakes anywhere else. Truth is we got well beaten in the midfield

Florent is certainly not disposable.

I'm interested to know what you believe he should have been doing that he wasn't.
3 goals, 11 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 82% TOG. Relief ruck. Seriously.

When we have a stuff up like Florent did normally players get around them , but on the tv it looked like no one went to him.
Saw that too. Florent was sorely crushed by the mistake. A few leaders needed to step up and get around him.

Luke Ablett wanted to die after a similar cockup in the '05 GF but the boys got around him and gave him the confidence to feel he could redeem himself.

Think he could be our swingman type of player once the other forwards return. The best case scenario he kills it up fwd & worst case he returns to defence where he's dominated in the past.

Cox mentioned he wants Blakey to play 'tall' since he's 197cm, my issue is he doesn't have natural 1v1 defensive instincts. Maybe it develops? I prefer seeing him play as the 3rd tall who comes in to help others through his speed & leaping ability, whether it be to spoil or take a mark.

He also said he wants McCartin up fwd to help our other fwds with their running patterns & competitiveness. It's a well thought out position change, will it be effective for the team? Time will tell...

Re Juzzy, I really like his defensive intensity. He usually attacks the opposition with max effort, unfortunately he doesn't have the strength to stick tackles on a consistent basis. I hope a few other players with better strength can learn to match Juzzy intensity.

I'm pretty sure he said this in the prematch interview on fox for anyone wanting to watch it. Some good insights.
