We’ve lead all 3 games at halftime.
The oppo coaches have obviously made adjustments during the break to counter our lead.
Our coaches don’t seem to acknowledge that there may be different tactics thrown at us after halftime by teams that are trailing.
Are they ignorant, stupid or arrogant?
Our fitness levels. Other thing is after our fast start last year and capitulation late in the year we may have decided to ease into this season but over indexed in doing so. Doesn’t help that our disposal and ability to stem an opponents momentum is still one of the worst in the comp after all these years.

Another things that does my head in
WTF do we kick to a contest in the forward line ??
Why the hell wouldn’t you kick it to space and make our blokes run onto it??
Especially when our talls are double/triple teamed ??

Surely they are not coached to do that?
Primary school stuff…😳
yep, i've seen much better kicking inside 50 (and movement from the forwards!) in 3rd grade country games....

When was the last time Harry or Chuck kicked 7 or 8 and simply dominated a game?

These days they get 2-4 and everyone seems happy?
Charlie kicked 10 and 9 v WC in 2023, along with 4 other bags of 5+ that year. Last year just managed one bag of 5.

Harry has never been one for big bags of goals. Kicked 5 twice last year. Best he's done was 7 in 2021.

If you are getting 57 & 49 goals from your key fwds, I have no issue. Look at the dogs game and our smalls kicked 1 between about 8 of them

Think it's Column A and Column B. We get gassed, and when that happens, skill levels drop. Our elite runners are not, unfortunately, clean ball users either which doesn't help. But opposition coaches can also change things up at 1/4 and 1/2 time and we don't seem to have an answer. to nullify those changes.

Contest just ain’t getting it done like it used to ….

Be keen to see how this is measured.

If a team rebounds from our D50 and ends up with a F50 entry which we spoil...and then they score from the throw-in...does that count as score from contested possession, or from rebound?

SO, we've heavily dropped off contested Footy since Voss took over, who's whole game plan is supposedly based on pressure at the contest (interestingly we had the best Percentage for the last 5 years under Teague). FFFS...

That's the AFL overall. Not just Carlton. The game has evolved. Changes to the rules has had a massive impact. This is where the list manager and coaches need to have the foresight to evolve with the game.

We are probably as fit as any other club in the compeition. But when you’re making 63/75 rotations, your players will get gassed quicker than the other side.

Is this us or the comp?

It’s important to note that despite our terrible performance in the back half of last year, im pretty sure we scored more heavily in 2024 than in 2023, its just that we let in on average about 2 goals more last year than the year before.

I wouldn’t have thought it was that hard to focus on our set ups at D50 stoppages which is where we were abysmal but here we are, having gone backwards at a big rate.

Yeah 12 less rotations...

Another bizarre scenario. Any journo ask about that

Those 12 were reserved for Williams if he played out the game. Every possession he’d need to run to the bench to make sure he hadn’t tweaked something.

Not sure our smalls play like smalls though. Sure don't see much crumbing going on when we bomb it on Charlie's or Harry's head. Our smalls are more likely to be making the kick than waiting in front of the stationary contest.

Motlop slow caught 10 times
Motlop misses banana kick when should of hit evans
Fogarty zero goal sense ( not coaching)
Evans is small, not a fwd, not a league footballer
Your post typically puts everything on coaching

Yes, I agree with your assessment of our smalls. They're not good enough.
But the fact that they are further up the ground instead of at least 1 being at the drop of the ball surely must be coaching though, right?

My point was we don't use our key forwards well... neither lead much these days and invariably have 2 or 3 defenders hanging off them by the time we get it in there....
Spot on. At least Kemp used the space last week.
He appears to have more traditional forward craft than our two guns.

And to our mids, anyone who won't honor a decent lead, or put it out in front for them to run on, but would rather 'Hack to a Pack' needs a LONG rest in the twos.
