Roys FFC 13.4 (82) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 13.8 (86)
( Summary by Mooch )After a cracking game of qootball at Dragon Island last week, which ultimately ended in a narrow loss, we were a little nervous coming home to face the Bears who had smashed the Furies last week. We were only just outside the eight at this stage, so it was still all to play for.
Matera92 kicked the first goal early on but it was the Bears only score of the quarter, while the Roys put on 3.3 with royboy2 (14 disposals, 7 marks, and a goal) and the TheGoatBaron (3 goals) kicked just straight enough to give the Roys the lead.
The Roys stayed in front for most of the next 2 quarters thanks to DERRINALPHIL's rucking prowess (13 hitouts, 15 disposals, and a goal) and 3KZ is Football's quality disposal - 24 of them. But that was before Tandy, SSSSSS, and Chipmunk took charge of proceedings. And in the end it was Millky95's ability to win the ball, use the ball wisely, and kick it through the big sticks which got the Bears over the line by less than a goal, despite a late 6-pointer by Phar Ace.
This result upset Doris in the canteen and ruour has it she did unspeakable things to the Bears post-match chudshakes. That might explain the queue for the toilets in the visitors rooms.

( Summary by Mooch )After a couple of close losses at home, we had a chance to escape the pressure of the BJO and get on the road. Not that the game was getting any easier, playing at the home of the high flying Demons. And they were pissed after an embarrassing loss to last place Bombers last week.
Roys got off to a flyer putting 3 scores on the board early, with fitzroybowiedog snagging the first of his first-quarter brace. The old dog had something of a day out in this game with 19 touches, 11 markes, and a couple of goals and his second goal at the 15 minute mark put the Roys 15 points up. But 4 Demon goals in 5 minutes but the home side back on top at the siren.
Roys rolled on 7 majors in the second term with a pair each to TheGoatBaron (6.2 goals overall), HinkleysHeroes (2 goals), and Roylion (3 goals). The Demons couldn’t come back from this despite throwing everything at the Roys. DERRINALPHIL was outstanding in the ruck once again with 13 hitouts, 22 disposals and 2.1 goals, while Phar Ace (18 disposals, 9 marks, and a goal) and Pure Grunt (19 disposals, 9 marks) bossed the midfield. A much needed win at a crucial time of the season.
