It is the dawn of a new era!!! The result is irrelevant. Max and Schoey just have to show something and we are up and away. Stratts aside this is about as good a team as we can muster.

I am excited about this team.

What could really be exciting is - with Schoey coming in, what if the back line suddenly gels and becomes a solid unit for the rest of the year? I know it's a big 'what if', but just think about it. Think about how it would then get bolstered by Stratts and Gilham next year. It would be, in Bruce's words, delicious. :)

Can't believe I'm actually confident/looking forward to a game at the SCG.

hahahahaha I think lots of us are feeling this way!!! Just have a strange feeling in my stomach that something good is gonna happen. How good i don't know it may be as simple as: Finding my lost Hawks cap.......Hey look there it is!!!!! WOOOO!!!! GO HAWKS!!!!!!!

Our last 23 games:

In Melbourne and Tassie: 15-2-1 86% winning %

Interstate: 1-4 20% winning %

That 1 win was our last game so now is as good a time as any to get over our inability to play interstate especially in Sydney, we got over Port, so Sydney can be next.

A win would be a big step for this group as well as very handy for the season.

It seems like everyone agrees with the ins.

I would say they are the most logical decisions.

I hope Burgoyne has a go this week as seems disinterested or carrying an injury? The guy is a gun and we need him firing. The good thing for the Hawks is the progress of our new, younger players as believe we have only played a few quarters of great footy then back to the chip sideways crap. I like going through the corridor, long and straight to Buddy and co. Good luck to Max Bailey and hope he plays a blinder! Still cant believe we let Kennedy go for pick 42 or something and Ben Mcglynn! Would have gladly kept them over Ladson, Osborne or Ellis but that's just my opinion. Go Hawks!

Agree with some of the previous sentiments on here - if we do lose, it would be offset somewhat if Bailey could get through the game unscathed and Ryan could show some positive signs. We need to minimise any damage done as well should we lose - none of these 30+ point losses.

Are we hoping for rain given our plethora of little blokes listed and hard nut midfielders? Goodes scares me every time, and at 194 I tend to feel the rain would hinder him perhaps more so than a few of our blokes. As mentioned on the Swans board, they have lost two matches in the rain this year (albeit against Carlton and Geelong, so the issue might well have been the opposition were simply a better side as opposed to the weather) and have been rather uninspiring in the conditions. Conversely, our wet weather match against Richmond was a beauty!

It would be great to think we could beat them in rain, hail or shine, which I think we can, but I wouldn't be upset if the weather was wet if we thought it would favour us - I'd take the 4 points on offer any way we can get them (Sydney bus breaks down and runs 15minutes late? satisfying result :D...assuming we win...)

I think giving him captaincy for this game was a very smart move. It might just fire him up that bit more.

Keys keep beating hoodoos. Win in Adelaide, beat St kilda in home and away, now beat sydney in Sydney.

Gee I can pick em ;)

More seriously though, very happy with the team named :thumbsu:

Edit: Off topic but was just doing my supercoach team and had to replace Hale in the ruck. Was almost about to trade when I look to my bench and see big Max :D

Hale in a supercoach R2 and Max (Hawks #3) on the bench? I take it you're not carving up your leagues! :D

havent posted in a long while been away but have had my finger on the pulse still. Mojo you are on the money as far as emerging talent ,its a difficult time as alot of emotion must go out the door as in regards to the old faithfuls of the club (Chad cornes would know about this ),clarko and co must be strong in this regard and keep giving the youngsters game time and building there confidence.

this game will be won in the smaller man department . our boys , sizzler , mitch , sewell , savage , lewis , baters , breust , burgoyne and hodge will all have to play well and kick goals . roughy will be busy helping out big max whom i hope has a great game and buddy will have to play his role as a running forward . there just isnt the space for him to hang in the square . would be a massive win if we get over the line and set us up well for the doggies next week . go hawks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't see any mention of Laddo or Lisle in the Box Hill game, I'm guessing they have travelled to Sydney in case of a late change...

Feel good about going to see Hawks at Scg for first time in ages ...last year R19 not fun - want that memory erased tomorrow.
..Good luck Mr Bailey..
