Sicily:

1. dislocated his shoulder; and
2. ended up playing at the other end of the ground as his ankle injury was bad enough in the last qtr that he couldn't jump off that foot.

On a 6 day turnaround - he'd be a 5% chance of playing this weekend surely.
No surprise there.

Good to see Jai back in the side.

He will be important against the Saints mobile medium/tall targets.

Morrison may not be consistent, but the team always seems more consistent when he’s in.

Not sure how that works

I am a Morrison fan and agree that he improves the team when he plays. Generally. But he was, IMO, fairly absent last week. Those are the sort of matches players need to stand up in. They are telling. And similar with regards to Ward. He was making fundamental errors like kicking a very short pass to a stationary teammate that had two opponents standing next to him. I would have dropped him just for that.

Agree, Morrison is often very deep in the back pocket providing the ‘get out of jail’ option. I think its a mistake to drop him, who else is providing that gut running option?

One of my favourite non-Hawk captains was Nick Maxwell. I think he was the 15th+ player picked on talent but the first pick on his ability to mould a group into a premiership team, both on the field and off.

While Dylan Moore is far closer to being the first picked on talent, he also has the presence of a person that can help the coaches mould our list into a premiership team, both on and off the field.

we are lucky to have Sic and Moorey as options…. along with Day and many other options.

I'm worried we're going to lack run this week. We've replaced Sic with Serong. That's fine. We've replaced Harry (covers many KMs) with Seamus (quick off the mark, but doesn't cover heaps of ground). We've replaced one of our best long distance runners in Ward with Breust, who shouldn't leave the forward 50.

Hoping we don't get an injury to our mids early, as Mackenzie doesn't have much of a tank either. I feel we're a rotation down.

We are so short on key defenders - brett thornton or even Nathan Carroll might get a game

Their tall fwds don't concern me.

King is down on form.
Hayes only just come back from an ACL.
Membrey had his own issues last year.

Finn to tag Hill.

We should get well on top of their mids.
I have no problem with posters identifying recent deficiencies in opposition players’ output / performance, but seriously….please 🙄

That’s wrong on several levels.

Hes played all 8 games this year and kicked 13.5. Why reference his 2023 issues. How is that relevant to this weekend?
More consistent this year then. Good on him.

I was more referring to their tall fwd cohort. They're inconsistent for a variety of reasons. It's a fact. Interpret that in any way you want.

Biggest ground we play on too. Hilly loves it’s space. Looking the other way two of those players are rested

Interesting thought, … the Hawks may lack run. 100% agreeing.

Ideas: With Seamus in the side and Harry out, Amon has a wing. A good start. Moore and CMak can take some of the load.

Impey, Masi, Ginni, Gunna and maybe Weddle have some serious running to do.

Watson, Hardwick, Breust, should reserve their game for impact.

You sir, make a good point.

MacDonald is the other one. Covers a lot of ground and works hard to provide an option.

No doubt w3 have reduced our running power by dropping Morrison and Ward. However we still have 5 elite or near elite runners in Maginness, Moore, Amon, Croc and Weddle. That may be enough.

Not the biggest fan of Ward and Morrison going out together. Limits our outside run.
Also part of the crew that believes Harry should play every week.

However, the inclusions are strong and still make sense from a structural perspective, so I'll back Sam in 100%.

If it continues, I wold think Harry rejoining Clarko at north would be very much a possibility
The reality is Harry is a fringe player. Like all fringe players, a poor game runs the risk of you playing VFL.
If getting dropped makes him want to walk out and play for a shitter team that hasn’t one a game, good luck to him.

Exactly. A competitive team needs a strong squad of 28-30 players to take them to success. If a player doesn’t want to work harder to be in that game day squad of 23, then the club would be better off without them on the list. In saying that, I reckon Morrison understands this and is a team first player that will continue to fight for a spot. He’s always there abouts.
