His forward craft is elite among our small forward stocks, reads the ball off hands better than anyone in the side and his one handed groundball pickups are also sex. As we saw today, didn't deserve to be dropped over others who are diabolically bad. He was obviously tagged in the GWS game and his clearances and contested possessions were still high despite low overall possession. This team just went out and had one of the all time lowest possession games, let's not pretend 14 possessions at AFL level or 20 and a goal at WAFL level is not above average for this side.
Writes essays on how shit Cripps is, even when kicking goals, yet gives a woefully shit Kelly a free pass...

The quicker we can adapt and move on from TK the better. I just can't see him kicking on past this season.

You are just going back to the credits in the bank mode because of panic.
It takes time for kids to develop in a team like ours.

All I've seen in the last 2 years of Kelly's forward craft are behinds.

Kelly is not what this team needs right now in his current form. He knows what is expected of him and knows that the bar you just set isn't what mcqualter is asking of him.

Kelly has never been a part of the credits system. You know full well only Greggo put his hand up for selection outright last night, you haven't even got Hunt in your own outs. Most of the kids we want in are already in. Allan and Brockman I have coming in as much to get more senior players out of the side. Kelly, despite the hate and despite people saying he doesn't try, still gives more effort and has more impact than any of the outs I named.

This might offend the play the youth brigade but they’re not immune if they play like ass.

77 contested lowest in AFL history.

OUT: Jwilliams, Hall, Dewar
IN: Grego, TK, Johnston (know he wasn’t great yesterday but we need some quick decision making and class)
I'd also love to see Shanahan up fwd

You really can't be taken seriously if you think Kelly gives effort and has more impact.

If he did the actual coach wouldn't have dropped him so you're up against it provi g your argument.

I didn't drop hunt because there is some modicum of effort and run from him.
Disposals are a dodgy but the whole team struggles with it right now and we need some senior players.

Think TK will come back in.

Hope Grego comes in.

That'll do.

Kelly coming straight back in would kind of undermine the coaches and the whole point of dropping him in the first place.

He did zero to warrant a return to senior football, so it would set a bad precedent for others knowing all you have to do is serve a weeks penance in the WAFL and you'll be straight back in. Pointless.

Doubt it happens.

Yeah I agree but I think mini will panic lol

I dunno... I'm pretty keen for the ultra contested midfield we were meant to be getting together to actually rock up.

But also we get smashed on the outside weekly so you need something and we have dregs of both

Bit of a circular firing squad, drop senior players which makes us worse so we better drop more which makes us worse and angrier so better drop all the senior players until we are losing every game by 120+, then we can start tearing down the young fellas.
Mission accomplished.

McQualter was nothing but glowing of Grego in the post match presser and said he's in their future plans. So I fully expect him to come in.

Fitness and tagging be damned, but you HAVE to put number 9 dead in the guts now. He's a bull, let him be a bull.

Like I said in a thread a week or two ago, I don't think we're in much of a position to drop any more senior players, we've pulled back so much of the onion already.

As opposed to keeping the senior players and we get belted by 80 points a game and get no future experienced kids coming through which prolongs the floggings.

Makes sense yeah

Cool bro. Jayden Hunt is better than Tim Kelly. Agree to disagree, jog on.

I just think a lot of it comes down to structure in the guts. Got to strip it back or try something else there to suit the new younger team of midfielders.

We need to retain the ball a bit more, flick it around and learn to play keepy offs a bit so we keep it in our hands. North do it very well for such a shit team.

Instead we win it back, oh yay finally a turnover, and then some spud doesn't know what to do with it and rushes the kick and we give it straight back to them and make the initial turnover wasted. Meanwhile the Oppo has had 40 touches to our 5.

Grego in for J Williams - playing that tall is not ideal

Flynn in for B Williams - we can shuffle these deck chairs until one of them actually grabs the spot

Wouldn't be upset to see hunt out of the 22, either for cole or a hammer full game

Hewett plays wafl if fit and hopefully replaces hall once ready

Don't think you can pick kelly yet off the back of that performance.

The skippers are really treading a fine line. Im not a fan of dropping them, but they're also not undropable. Lift boys.

3 shots at goal - he stays. Showed determination. Some didn't.
Hunt can run, most cannot. He stays.
I am all for dropping both captains, but the flow on may be an issue.
Creative and tough calls required.
Greg sounds like he must come in even if early for him.
Shanahan looks the only other prospect.

I think we could drop Oscar but not both
Oscar is still struggling with bone bruising on the knee and is playing through it
Not doing him any favours though playing through injury its clearly effecting his running

Its pretty grim that Duggans contract will see him through to end of 2028. We need him replaced yesterday unless he can develop into a tagger.
