CMAC can wait for the Easter game. İt'll be easier to just replace punk with worps. Then worry about selection headaches the following week. Off course, MacDonald is extremely important to the way we play but another week on the sidelines won't do any harm.
Man, I hate the bone headedness of the AFL, scrap this sub shit and just have five active players on the bench. Or maybe 5+1.

I don't know why you're surprised, we haven't really had any badly performing players but Ginnivan has had the most disappointing start. It's a pretty simple equation, we have players to come back in, and if those players are definitely best 22 then others need to come out.
He's performing badly according to which metric?
Our players undertake different roles each week based on what's needed to win games. Against GWS, we had Hardwick play on Taylor to keep him accountable. Newcombe played mid decoy/blocker (only 21 possessions) which allowed CMac to shine. Ginnivan played further up the ground to help isolate our other small forwards. Go back as far as the 2013 Grand Final. Sam Mitchell had 12 disposals but his role was to disrupt Fremantle's flow by sacrificing his own game. It worked. This is the model we are now following under Sam as coach.

These tactics change every week. Next game Will Day might be held to 10 possessions because he's been instructed to play more defensive to help the team ie clear space for the other mids. Don't think this is being taken in to account when evaluating Ginnivan's form.

If we are losing games, its a different discussion. Only way Ginni loses his place is through injury imo.

Not knowing how to fit everyone in the team is such a better problem than exactly 12 months ago when we were wondering how the hell to win a game!

Ginnivan is a smart footballer, but he is slow (not sure if it's related to his preseason injury).

Given our gameplan heavily revolves around fast movement (both disposal and without the ball), it makes ginnivans spot most susceptible. His current pace issues also limits where he can play on the field

Ginnivan has never been quick!
He has football IQ that may makes him look quicker than he actually is!

The biggest query on Ginni is his pace. Most worry about Gunners and Bruest in same side, I see the same problems with Gunners and Ginni. Thats 2 out of 6 in fwd line not putting any pressure on opposition backs. Got away with it last week in horrid conditions, not sure we will when its a faster game like what the Port game will be. Guess one would be sub?

Ginni is extremely creative. It doesn't always come off, but he regularly gets us out of a tricky situation and into a scoring position with odd little kicks, handballs or knock ons. Something statistics don't cover and doesn't require speed.

I thought it was common knowledge after watching the Hawks doco Full Sweat where Ginni mentioned how frustrated he was with his preseason and having to manage what was mentioned as a crack in his ankle. He isn't the fasted as it is but you can tell that he's not playing at 100% atm but our selectors obviously feel that he's important enough to be getting a game so we have to trust that IMO.

I want this to be Hinkley's last game as coach. 150+ point belting should see Josh Carr take over immediately.
I'd rather Hinkley continues to coach Port for as long as possible.

Or Carlton sacks Voss & hires him to become their next big-name 'savior'... only to see Hinkley become Pagan MKII.

He has very high footy IQ. The stuff you can't really teach. It comes naturally to Ginni.

This. He is still doing a lot of chasing and defensive stuff structure wise. The goals will come he is playing higher because of Crocs absence

Agree about selection next game, but the last thing the game needs is more players on the bench. I like the sub. Gives smart coaches like Sam another advantage.

Ginnivan could be a good sub but I’d give him an opportunity to start. Maginness is unlikely due to his power running however his versatility makes sense. Gunston is the likely one, Hardwick and Chol given the role as the targets with Day and Newcombe going down to provide another presence. Gunston can come on and provide an aerial contest, play a defensive forward role, and as we know he is still versatile enough.
Gunston will have the Allir role. Allir will be made accountable.

If he is fit he plays, no waiting with a player as important as he is.

I think you are taking him being dropped as him being awful or something along those lines.

We simply don't have anyone who is playing out and out poorly. We simply have players who are offering more than he is at the moment.

He was pretty great last week .
It was just a shot on goal I remember him shanking!

He had a few kicks inside 50 that were dead set grubbers along the ground.

I think his best kicks are improving, the next thing he needs to improve is making the gap between his best and his worst smaller.

He works at it almost every training session there has been great improvement and there will be more he is such a diligent hard worker

Love Finn as a big bodied forward, and even more so in his shut down role, and while he does some nice things, he's noticeably a rung below others skill wise. With so many players coming back, he needs him to be kicking more goals if he's going to remain best 22 for mine.

I think Chol’s off game against GWS means we need to keep Gunners around. We can’t afford a game where Chol is ineffective and we don’t have another tallish player up there. Heck, Hardwick was banging at FF in the 4th last night. We won’t enter a game with that plan.
I reckon Chol needs a rest but we can't afford to right now. He's done a mountain of work so far. It's not much of a surprise to see him play a very quiet game. Plus he's still learning.
