We know he plays well on Weitering.
Hopefully he feels he has something to prove against them. That won’t be the week to drop him even if Membrey comes back.

I think deep Down where it matters- Ross discovered he was a saints man

Yeah and I think he liked the idea of getting back with all his Saints mates again with the likes of Harves, Lenny and BJ in assistant coaching roles.

I think he also felt bad with the way he left us and him coming back to coach us again was part of the healing process for both him and for our club.

Hammer is more a King style focal point than Membrey or Cordy. He runs straight at the ball and looks menacing without the ball. Cordy tends to draw his player and doesn't even look like contesting unless its comes to him. Membrey has played a lot as a high half forward in the last few years. He gets up and down the ground. It drove me nuts that he was playing where he was less effective. It will be interesting to see what we do with him.
You might be right, but at the end of the day they are all key position players

I don’t think it matters too much which one plays similar to the other, we more than likely aren’t going to go with more than 3 of them.

King is a lock so for Caminiti to play he either has to perform better than Membrey or show he can chop out in the ruck.

I think any mix of 3 of King/Membrey/Caminiti/Cordy would work together

Caminiti has surprised me with his tank to he honest. He gets up and down the ground very well and can even link up amd kick a goal on the run. He’s more of a scrapper than King.

Caminiti has the makings of an elite centre half forward. Membrey can push up the ground and use his running capacity to double back and make a leading option in the 50. King at full forward. Add the rest in and we have the makings of a premiership forward line

Agree, which would leave Caminiti as the chop out ruck

Membrey has shown he can play in defence too, so if it's too crowded up forward with King and Caminiti they can send him into defence as a spare man.

I bloody hope that when King and members come back it doesn't upset our game style.

Lyon was asked a couple days ago if anything would be changed to acomodate the likes of Membrey and King.

Immediate Lyon response "No, they will bend to us". I don't think Ross is going to even consider it.

There is obviously a difference in height between Caminiti and Membrey and a few different strengths and weaknesses but when we are full strength and picking a side to win I have no doubt they will be fighting for the same spot along with Cordy.

It doesn’t matter how many times you mention Membrey height, he is a key position forward. That is always how he has played and will continue to.

Can they both play in the same team along with King?

Most definitely, but that will mean Caminiti will have to chop out in the ruck and Cordy will lose his spot.

A lot of water to go under the bridge, but when we are at full strength I expect us to play with 3 key forwards, who they are remains to be seen.
Once King and Membrey return, do you expect us to keep playing Owens in the role he has been playing or move him to more of a midfield role?

Because that could also impact whether Caminiti holds his spot.

I don't see Hammer getting pushed out if he keeps up what he's doing.
It may end up the case that King and Membrey returning makes us too top heavy, however by that time Hammer would be taking the 3rd best defender and his production should go right up.
With King and membrey back the third tall position has to go to mitchito. Playing all of King membrey Caminiti and Owens in the front half is too top heavy

Arrived in Adelaide and went to Glenelg for a look, there were bloody Collingwood supporters everywhere they are like a 'mice plague'. Filthy critters...

Hopefully the Cats & Eagles supporters hang around and even up the support for the Sainters?

Stay safe mate.

Keep your head down and don't make eye (singular) contact.

That was Rattens 1 wood

Doubt Ross will do that
Agree. The Membrey to the backline move was a telltale sign that the coach has no confidence in the structures and no real nous beyond 'throwing around the magnets'. No different to Richo's hopeless and unimaginative throwing Carlisle forward. Lyon's coaching is so much more advanced that that bush league nonsense it is not even funny.

I’d like to think that he at least spends a bit more time in the midfield.

Unless we want to put Owens in the ruck more though we still need someone to chop out for 5 minutes here and there.

It’s great to actually have some tough calls to make though rather than discussing which shit kicker we will replace with another shit kicker.

I see a role for all of them. Owens is a makeshift key forward, and although he has played like a gun, he'll be even better as a true utility who can go into stoppages and everywhere else. Caminiti's physical aggression, tackling, pack crashing and goal nous have been brilliant. He would probably be worth at least a second round pick at this stage, if not more. Unless the body breaks down I think they will find a way to keep him in the team (probably by putting him in the chop out ruck role).

We are in a bloody fortunate position that there are top quality players coming back and yet no one even remotely droppable, but form ebbs and flows and changes also become easier in response to losses. Sooner or later we will converge on our absolute best 22, but it can't be rushed and it must maintain both the team's chemistry and selection integrity.

Unlike Membrey though, Owens is a great ground ball player and not just reliant on his marking.

I think he’d be great playing as a high half forward/mid

I definitely don’t see him playing out his career as a third tall forward anyway

Yeah everyone at St Kilda from the president down was in favour of getting Ross back to coach us again.

There were some Saints supporters that weren't in favour of it but after 4 wins on the trot they will all be in favour of it now.
This is total circle jerk, but imagine if Billings came back into this side and had a purple patch of A grade form, a rejuvenation of sorts akin to Seb Ross’s last year and this season so far. I hardly ever think of Billings as a game changer nowadays but if he can stay injury free there’s a run way for him to be very dangerous for us.

I don't think there is any great penetration to Caminiti's field kicking - they tend to go up rather than out. He's definitely shown enough to persist with - good hands, good motor, good speed and a long kick. Plenty to work with.
Just wondering Punter, were you having an each way bet here?
