Levi is in a difficult position where he's a great footballer but clearly his strengths, like Will, is as an inside midfielder. Don't really know what we do with him though because McCluggage, Neale, Dunkley and W.Ashcroft are well above him. Probably good to get games into him regardless.
He's happy learning from Dunkley Suitcase and Neale very much like Wash has

dropping answerth would be a massive mistake imo.

has started the season very well
Can someone remind me, why do we need to drop any of our established players? Space needs to be made for Lohmann and Starcevich, but that should just involve some tinkering with the team in terms of the players who came in to replace them.

Day’s position looks more tenuous each week that he fails to contribute around the ground and on the scoreboard, but that is about it.

There is no need to make changes to a team that is 4-0 and sitting second on the ladder, especially as it appears it ain’t broke …

I agree. Our forward line is not working as well as it did last year. Our scoring rate per inside 50 stat is lower. But the the rest of the side is building nicely.
I think Doedee will have to force his way into the team and it may not be easy.

Regarding Sam Day, he’s no Daniher but then Joe really can’t be replaced.
Our forward line will need to find a new way of functioning and it will probably take some time.

I posted this in the game day thread in real time but there was hardly anybody queueing at Gate 6.

I guess everyone was coming from the north side so like sheep just followed everyone else and joined the queue at gate 2. This was an hour before the bounce, so I went for a bit of a walk around the ground and voila they weren't all the same.

Something to think about for next time 🙂
The lack of communication was woeful though. If staff could've communicated this and would've saved a lot of issues. There were also people cutting in the queue and nothing was done about it which was causing a lot of anger. The AFL knew this was going to happen.

I’m willing to give them a mulligan. It was the first week of new security arrangements with 2 days to plan and implement. The test is if they learn and improve going forward.

No preview thread so posting here - surely this is the week Harris gets a tight job and not play loose at all. Sam Darcy is 208cm. Nobody else can take him. Payne to go to Naughton. Lester can play interceptor.

They have players out and a shorter break off a Perth trip. Great week to get them, hope we are switched on

It's a tough one coming up against a team with multiple dangerous tall forwards. Definitely a week when we need Lester helping out which hasn't generally been something he's done even in his recent games

I don't want Harris wasted chasing #1 key forwards ever again after they tried to do that against Hogan last year, and he was bad at it anyway. I want him totally disrepsecting O'Donnell and floating across to double-team Darcy with Payne.

Nonsense. Don’t you understand how silly you look when you post comments like this. In Round 3 he “helped out” by comprehensively beating Jeremy Cameron, gathering 15 of his own disposals along the way, taking 6 marks, 4 intercept possessions and gaining 261 metres.

On the other hand, if you want to keep posting stuff like the above, you should. After all, it’s your credibility you are trashing.

correct me if I am wrong, but you are referring to the GWS game at the GABBA when Payne was out injured?. As Payne played the Canberra game. Harris is about 202cm and Payne about 197cm and Darcy about 208cm. Harris is two time all Australian, surely he takes Darcy and Payne takes Naughton.

Yes I'm referring to the Gabba game, Payne being out was probably why Harris took Hogan in that game. Point being, I think Harris is wasted trying to lock down and we lose more. It didn't work and Harris played his single worst game of last season.

I have faith with Payne to be competitive. The height is an issue, but Payne has much more athleticism to stay with Darcy compared to Harris who is a lot slower than Jack.

Harris' value is intercept marking and coming over the top of a contest to spoil it 20m, we waste him if we make him focused on a player in a pure negating role. Harris can help on Darcy if he gets the O'Donnell matchup.

Old campervan Weitering followed Darcy around and did ok in the first half, but got beaten anyway and the dogs ran over the top of them. Far better to try restrict Darcy with structure and up the ground pressure.

Careful 3KZ about credibility, you are the poster that posted almost immediately after a night game loss (last year), bagging Hippy, Payne, Cam etc, even though you eventually admitted on this board, that you had not watched the game before posting, as you were at a concert that night.

I get it, you are Lesters number 1 fan, and Lester is going better than I, and a few on this board thought. However, IF Doodee finds form and Starc is back, then some possibly unfair decisions have to be made.

I watched the Freo and Dogs game, and O'Donnell is improving, and I would say he is more of a threat, then Harris past few opponents over the past three weeks, so no guarantee Harris will be able to assist Jack as much as we would like.

Secondly, I think Jack (who is not a huge jumper) could struggle with the height difference.

I would try Harris first on Darcy and Jack on Naughton. That said, could be argued Naughton is due to score a few.

Reasonably confident we win, apparently Perth was very warm yesterday and that was a pretty physical game the dogs and freo, so hopefully dogs are a bit flat. 5-0 sounds good to me.

The game you mentioned might have been the Richmond game when we coughed up a big lead. To be fair, I had watched the replay. I do go to a lot of concerts, so I’m not sure on the actual game. More to the point, when I have been shown to have infringed, I cop the 50 metre penalty and don’t repeat the offence. I don’t mind admitting when a player proves me wrong and I have posted mea culpa’s in relation to each of those players. That to me is the surest sign of any poster’s credibility.

Yep, Doedee plays in the reserves for most of the season and only gets selected if there is an injury to one of our key defenders. Will be tough for him, no doubt.

It wouldn’t be a tough decision, it would be crazy to drop Lester, a Premiership player who finished 6th in our Best and Fairest last year, above Andrews, Payne and Starcevich, for a player who has done two knees in as many years and hasn’t played senior football since the 3rd June 2023. Lester is acknowledged as the spiritual heart and soul of the club and is universally loved by players. He is very safe in this side.

Lachie was very average I thought.
It’s funny how his game has been viewed. He racked up 42 disposals, his quarter split was 10, 12, 9 and 11 and his disposal efficiency was 80%, 75%, 77% and 72% which are decent numbers for an inside mid who is nearly always ‘hot’. I was at the game and at different stages he was walking the ball out of the middle. His dominance set us up BIG TIME.

I’m loving his form this year, even when he is copping a hard tag, because he is fighting all the way. This is the beauty of having Dunkley and McCluggage in the team, because if Neale doesn’t get you, they will. Then there is Rayner, who is a real joker in the pack who could pull a game apart in a 15 minute burst.

Speaking of Rayner, has anybody else noticed how much leaner and fitter he looks? He looks as good as I’ve ever seen him. Clearly he’s put in some mega hard yards at training over the summer, which could be pivotal in his evolution.
