There's being a good runner. Then there's being a good runner after you've spent an hour getting crashed into by bigger, harder, stronger blokes. That said I hope he smashes it!

I'd say the adrenaline of playing your first AFL game would help, but I don't know how many of the dozens of GWS supporters will turn up to provide an atmosphere

I hope people are prepared for the result after we play GWS with a super young team.

Yeah, we know that getting our assess kicked is the most likely scenario, but we were probably going to get our asses kicked anyway, we may as well explore the list and get some time in to kids.

Can't believe some want to lose by just a little bit less and play list cloggers.

Baker was named back in the past two games and played primarily midfield in both, so I don't think we can put too much stock in that one.
Yeah that's what I meant, someone will need to be going back in his place.

And it was gonna go so well with the “midfield” we’ve been rolling out. It’s 100% the right move regardless. Get some games into them, and those called up all deserve it. Hope a few can show something and string some games together

I loved Gross last year in the Champs, will be watching him with interest. The smalls from this draft have looked great early and I thought Gross wasn't far behind some of the top end mids who are already playing well at AFL level.
Been killing it at WAFL (preseason) level - excited to see what he can do, we're screaming out for young mids/accumulators

understandable, I loved Gross in the dream I had where he had 42 touches against GWS

Many wanted the youth played, no matter what. Well that day has arrived with Hall, Gross and Davis in the midfield or thereabouts. Not to mention Brock down back.

Pretty exciting to see. Also proves Mini supports those showing form in the Wafl.
Still got plenty of seniority/leadership there with Baker and Cole down back (bit thin),
Dugs, Graham, Hunt, Kelly around the guts, and Cripps, Owies and popular man of the moment, the somewhat lacklustre Oscar Allen.

Worth remembering Gross is 18, Davis is 18, Hall is 19, Harley is 19 (as we all know) Maric/Long/Ginbey/Hewett are 20, and...........................Cripps is 32. ((;

Whether we get thrashed or lose in a competitive game, safe to say we all want to see what the youth can offer, and blooding them to AFL level is a bonus going forward.
This is a big step in the rebuild, even if it gets ugly.
Next game should see Waterman, Ryan, Hewett, return, maybe Allan, Hutch (week after?)

The scoreline matters a lot less now though, if we had gone in with our oldest possible line-up then sure but whether out of necessity or not we have gone in youthful and now we can see what players have to offer instead of seeing how bad some of our seniors are. Looking forward to seeing what the kids bring no matter the result.

100%

Well it's great to see the rebuild actually starting.

Good young team, looking forward to the game to see the enthusiasm and passion of youth.

Hopefully the debut players do well.

Thank Lord Jesus.

This is the first step to actually rebuild rather than try and connect the bottom of our age profile and the top of it by sprinkling some C grade talent in between.

Win or lose, at least we'll have a fair bit to watch for and look forward to.

Pretty funny how quickly the mood changes on here once the youf get named

Indeed, even seeing the names yesterday I was still sceptical but after the final changes today I'm a lot more motivated to watch the game with an open mind than I was earlier in the week.

Do i expect a win? No.

But the backline is interesting with the dropping of Edwards, everyone in that backline is very mobile or has a murderous kick like maric and brock. I used similar while coaching against big forward lines, we're going to half the contest and then use the rebounders to attack agressively with everyone like we have in the wafl

Alright. If he starts will be cramping by the fourth. AFL isn’t just running mate.

I don’t think so, and I know. It’s an obvious step up but I think he’s run out games at WAFL level particularly well. Excels in the area of fitness. That said for this particular game I can see him coming on fresh as the sub, last debutant picked this week
