Freos defence has been well known to be their strangehold in past 3 seasons

But my observation of Freo defence today

* Alex Pearce isn't playing 100%. He looks incredibly slow and Geelong actually looked to go to him in 1 on 1 at every opportunity today.

* Luke Ryan as someone mentioned on here, he looks overweight, unfit and for me hesitant with ball.

* Cox- looked more threatening forward than defence today.

* Walker- was average, not the worst

I also question some of the guys fitness on guys like: Switkowski, Sharp in running out that game.

Beating Sydney next week is no shoe-in.

No more Matty Boyd. I can't remember who the new guy is but it was shockingly bad. Geelong always without fail had a player open in paddocks.

Biggest problems
1. Skill level
2. Out bottom 6 players wouldn’t get a game for north
3. All 3 fwds fly for the same ball and no crumbers in site
4. These useless pricks are the kings of giving us hope

It was a weirdly officiated match thats for sure. Look I was a Dockers member for a while, but I am a neutral as I now support GWS but the Dockers got the raw end of the officiating today. No if, no buts.

We move onto next week but Ill definitely keep an eye out on those umps for sure.

I don’t think Pearce should captain us in 2026. His comment about Karl Worner being our breakout player just seems so stupid. The captain is on the selection committee. We see Worner picked ahead of Chapman. Like some sort of Captains pet.

He can’t really fire up the team. We come out in every 1st quarter dreary and asleep. Our defenders aren’t really getting better and they would be most closely associated with his leadership.

We need change. Longmuir out and put Serong captain.

I've been a Longmuir supporter but he has to take some responsibility for this. First game and we weren't up to the intensity. Time and time this side just hasn't been ready. Two years of terrible starts to games.

When was the last time we conceded 23 goals in a game? Probably under Connolly? or maybe once during the last couple of Lyon years? Defence has been the only thing you could argue Longmuir has been ok at, and he couldn’t even get that right today. He’s washed up.
Can’t wait to hear the most uninspiring press conference as well.

Premiership favourites.

Yeah baby

When people said Freo were premiership contenders this year I really was surprised. This performance today (umpires aside) was far off it wasn't funny.

I think there is a huge concern on the defence. It looks slow transitioning out from defence to mid. A team like Geelong are a team that play with a fairl settled defence and you need more chaos bringing the ball into the forward line. Look its not the end of the world but beating Geelong in Geelong , most teams won't be able to do that this year.

I do expect a team bounce back next week against Sydney.
