Think everyone is a bit on edge at the moment. But really not sure today was as bad as the first page or two of this thread would suggest

For a start, Jones seems to be copping it from everyone with both barrels. Yes he turned it over a few times. But he also had 7 clearances (the team only had 25 and the next best was Steele with 4). He also had the equal most disposals. If he kicks 3.0 instead of 0.3 then we win and he probably gets 3 votes

Lots of people also laying into Gresh in the first half. How did our mids go without him?
Hill's ball use is also head and shoulders above everyone except Billings. That delivery I50 is beautiful to watch. Its on others to get him the ball!
Paton and Long excellent. Both suddenly best 22 from nowhere.
Butler 8 tackles (yes that is actually what a small pressure forward looks like, not the crap we have served up for the last 3 years)
B.Brown: 5 kicks and 1 goal. Welcome Dougal Howard. Nice to not have the big opposition forward kick a bag on us.

Yes we can focus on how Robbo was underdone and should never have been picked. Or Dunstans kicking inside 50. Or Hills second half. Or anything that Ross ever does in the back half of the ground.

But given everything else going on, maybe its better to focus on the fact that nearly half of Clarks possessions were intercepts, or the fact that King kicked 2 (noone will remember how they came 10 years from now) or that for all the talk about 2 ruckman not working, both Ryder and Marshall had a shot on goal inside the last 2 minutes to potentially win the game for us.

There is more than enough negativity to focus on in the world at the moment. Hell, in all likelihood the game probably wont even count towards a real season. And I get everyone is feeling the uncertainty at the moment and a win would have been great to take our mind off everything. But some of the reactions in here to a close loss where we led by 5 goals and had more scoring shots are extremely over the top.

Agree mate have said this summer really confident we are on the right path , see it every week .



Going to be really interesting to see what happens with our list because a few players won’t get a chance
for a contract next year now this season is done , can’t cancel training for 2 months and continue impossible.

Carlisle is a top line defender and just his marking skills today in the back line might of saved us.

Battle would of been value off half back or even as a key forward.

Coffield , Savage , Webster or even McKenzie would of been better than Geary today.
Got to love the Captain but sometimes the players have to be put out to pasture when they get to 32 - big men are a different story because there is not to many of them around compared to a back pocket with limited foot skills.

Lonnie had a shocker - and he will need to show more than just playing a handful of good games a year when you have kids like Langlands , Bytel , Parker , Hind wanting a spot.

My wife came to our "marquee game" two years ago and North put us in their cellar and made us their bitch. Last year we were out and I convinced her to go to a place at fed square to watch the Tassie game. She has watched 2 games in 10 years and both times we looked like we were possibly he worst side to play AFL ever. Today she was half watching the first half and saying stuff like "it's nice seeing you happy watching footy", second half my Kayo is dropping out so I moved close to the modem. She comes in and sees me in despair and keeps asking how they could lose. I don't think she's keen on watching us play north again.

Stoked to have seen some footy today, really been looking forward to it and despite the second half was just happy to see the boys run around again.

All the games have been weird so far this year. Low tackle counts, free men everywhere. Just doesn’t look like AFL to me. Strange times.

I liked Jones game. Yeah he’s not the best kick, but his inside work was good. Hardly the problem today IMO.

Seemed to me that we stopped running after half time.I think sometimes when our kicking looks awful it’s on the back of not creating space with hard running.

Heaps of stuff could have been better but really just so happy we got to see the boys run out at least once this year.

After half time we showed no heart but at least Kent laid 5 tackles and had 14 disposals is better than Lonies 3 tackles and 6 disposals - Roberton had a shocker - no tackles and 8 disposals is just not good enough to keep in the side as the guy who was meant to be of intercept marker.

My wife was doing law and we wasted so much cash and saved nothing, she's been studying for 4 years and I hadn't adjusted to not being an idiot from that. I'm totally ****ed now. I'm going to see if I can get a government delivery driver job or something just so I don't have to be indoors for 6 months.

Plugger i'm totally gutted we got beaten today by a average team - it hurts , but I feel our backline let us down - Howard and Wilkie did there jobs but that was about it and of course we never had a midfield after half time and that made it worse.

Forward line did not fire at all today. Members had a shocker. Maxy did as good as you could expect of a first gamer but he was never going to dominate. Marshall = stinker.
Today is a perfect example of why Lonie cops such scathing criticism.
Looks like he is going to have a big season full of promise ( 4 goals in each of the Marsh series games ) then day one of the real stuff and absolutely zero, a massive donut.
He wasn’t on his own today but these games where he is absolutely invisible are just too common.
The selection of Kent was a big mistake IMO. Theirs just too many parts of his game that go consistently wrong and this was visibly there in the preseason. No hiding from it for our selection committee, they just got that one horribly wrong and with Lonie not turning up it added to our forward line looking totally disfunctional.
The most depressing thing about this is we don’t even have next week to atone for this stinker. I hope this burns in the gut of the players - the effort after the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter was unacceptable by anyones standards. I mean fm 1 goal in a half of footy.

My understanding of it, as it sits now. It is a shut-down - where only essential services are allowed to open, for example; supermarkets, petrol stations and chemists. Lawn mowing, plumbing, brick laying are not essential services. So I believe we are not working from Tuesday. Yes and I agree it is very confusing. Hopefully, Andrews fills us in more tomorrow. Don't count on working after Tuesday.

lonie didn't hit the scoreboard but he hit some bodies hard and provided good pressure. He wasn't our worst
