Looked like one of those one-sided grand finals where one team fumbles everything and it just compounds from there.

If we didn't take possession initially the ball inevitably ended up going a Brisbane player. In fact, I can't actually think of a stoppage or centre bounce where we did take possession.

Terrible game for Cumberland to come back in. Hiding to nothing.

Thought Young played his best game. Did a lot more than just spoil.

Forward entries were terrible generally but I guess the defensive work of the Lions forced us into long bombs.

Losing isn't a drama but disappointing how bad it was. Thankfully percentage may not be important to us unless Carlton end up on the same points.

Well now we're going to get a good look at what McQualter is made of when it comes to reacting to that performance. In the first 4 games it was pretty straight forward team selections and very little in terms of dealing with things going really badly.

Felt for the back line tonight, they were under constant pressure with the ball coming in at will with very little pressure from the midfield group. Balta Vlastuin & Broad did all they could to try and stem the tide, but eventually the dam broke and the Lions were able to run up the score.

To cap things off Short has now been Meehaned and probably misses 3-4 weeks. Martin should be back next week after recovering from Goat Flu. At this stage I'm not sure there is much that can be done with regards to selection that is going to make a massive change in how we're going to perform. Just need to keep backing in the kids that have started to establish themselves and keep playing the best brand of footy that we can to run out the season.

There are a number of mitigating factors.
Rusty after the bye (no team has won the week after the bye against a team that played the week before); Dusty and Prestia out, followed by Short; Brisbane in Brisbane in full flat-track-bully mode.
The loss is not as bad as the score line suggests.

The Pickett up forward experiment has yielded SFA! Leave him on the wing and rissole McIntosh for Banks. Our FWD line is beyond a joke. Xavier should pack his bags. Let Riewoldt take over as FWD coach.
hes deplorable up forward. its wing or bin. we really need to get a hold of some natural forwards and stop trying to shoe horn utility types in there they never work.

Well that was s**t

Mids we’re hopeless today, basically fumbled every ball in dispute, Brisbane would just cleanly pick it up and out they went.

Big game for Banks and Brown tomorrow, would think one of them comes in for Short. Would like to see Coulthard get a game next week as well, our team lacks natural forwards.

Maybe there is something in the post bye stuff - could tell early in the first we were off.

Fumbles, 2nd to the ball, missed tackles.

Some real passengers sadly - Pickett, Graham, Miller and Jack and even Taranto and Bolton way down on influence.

Both captains were pretty poor too - even Bake’s only battled on.
