As much as we might have liked a better showing and to come away with a win, such is the nature of things that sometimes you run into a form side and come up short. This is one of those days.

Be nice and discuss as Giants run out winners and we show up in the last quarter.

Scoreline looks OK, but the 2nd and 3rd qtrs were up there with the Adelaide game I thought.

Our pressure and defence was really poor. I think they had 14 of 18 goals at one stage from late in the first to late in the 3rd.

Glad we didn't completely roll over and got something out of it.

Our leaders mostly had pretty ordinary days. MaCrae was taken out of it. Steele looked ordinary. Sinclair didn't have a lot of impact when it counted and Marshall played his worst game for quite some time.

The positives were the kids that stood up. Nas was fantastic. Garcia and Windy worked hard in the middle.

I thought Byrnes, Sharman and Hall all had good games also.

Whatever they’re paying the GWS trainers we need to double it. They all look like Olympic athletes. Bigger, stronger, faster, how they haven’t won a flag yet is beyond me.

GWS look a million bucks when they’re on. Less so when they’re not.

Can live with that, but we need to keep showing up and get it done next week against the Dogs.
Henry to come in next week
Max King would make such a big difference for us at the moment.

I honestly saw us struggling today due to our pressing nature of gameplan. Just felt like it wasn't going to work in the hot conditions we played today for 4 quarters. so I'd knew we'd get carved up at some point., but really encouraging we kept trying till the end. I think if it was a cooler day we would have been much closer but GWS just too good for us at this stage. Over worked us in those two middle quarters, their skills seemed less fumbly and better execution. Thought NWM and Garcia were pretty good. Especially putting Nasiah in the middle in the last quarter seemed to worked better than the slow windhager/steele/mccrae combo. McCrae is excused of having a poor game today considering he has carried us the previous 4, however Steele really needs to do more. Nevertheless good experience for the young players out there today against a quality opposition.

We had similar inside 50's compared to them but our kicking was very poor. They have 3 giant defenders and 3 giant forwards, so our forward entry had to be low and fast. We don't have enough players who can take those options.

Steele's decision-making and kicking today was simply not up to standard, sore knee or not. But Garcia and Windy can play hard tough footy. Byrnes was very good all game, ditto Wood.

Nas is elite wherever he plays.

Glad we fought it out and happy we got it back under 5 goals ... truth of the matter though is we were outclassed by a bigger/stronger better team

GWS always seemed to have an outlet handball or kick and our backline & forwardline were monstered.

Of course we still have a few to come back and Steele was definitely underdone.

Good learning experience for our younger core ... thought Windy & Garcia fought hard all day and Wood & Sharman contested well

Byrnes wasn't bad until you realise he was playing on Greene for the most part who kicked 5

Wanga is a star ... sign him up ... give him what he wants

Dullbogs next week is now a must win game

I thought they showed a bit today. GWS are a top 3 team. We are not. That ground demands very clean, fast and precise disposal. GWS are ahead of us in that. But we stuck in and the scoreline was respectable.

The young kids are getting games into them. Today highlighted how important it is that we get NAS signed up.

Yet although well beaten I didn’t think we were too far behind, considering…

A couple of suss umpiring howlers, there was one early in our backline, we won the free the Giants player didn’t stop & kicked it through, ball came back but where was the 50?

Even without the umpires, we had players slipping over at crucial moments, normally accurate kicks putting in shockers & a few times where the ball refused to sit up.

Maybe it was because we stayed in Adelaide that the players seemed lacking at times,
would have changed the way players normally set themselves for the week?
Anyhow we put that down as a loss & set up for the doggies at Marvel nxt week.

Our lack of marking power right across the ground was telling and we were filling holes everywhere. Marshall was slaughtered in the ruck, Macrae & Steele ineffective hence our quality of clearances was poor.

We were picked apart by a far better side. Any forward entries were mostly intercepted and they set up their attacks from there. We hardly laid a hand on them after that eg Ash playing on Collard had 33 disposals, Lance had 3.

We were beaten by a far better side, but we battled on well.

Garcia, Sharman, Nas, Windhager were good.

There was a passage of play in the last with all our young guns executing quick, sharp handballs in tight congestion and then Nas lasered a pass inside 50 to hit a bloke on the chest.

Showed a glimpse of what’s to come.

Overpowered and outclassed. They're a vastly better team but I thought most of our team put up a decent showing. Some vets in Wilkie and Wood were great. Garcia and Sharman stood up. MCcCrae had a quiet game and Steele was bad. Ro doesn't look right right. Seeing Wang kicking goals was awesome.

Disappointed that Lance was subbed. I could have seen him snagging a or two in the last. Trav isn't up to speed yet against quality opposition. Would like to see him put some strong form together at Sandy before playing seniors again.
