Most pleasing part of the ruck set up in the F50 was that we sent the normal ruck a kick behind the play instead of standing 10 m away from the ruck contest doing absolutely nothing. Only took us about 4 years to realise how stupid it was.

It's only the last couple of years ROB has been used in that way, go back 3 or 4 years ago and he was playing the kick behind play and taking plenty of overhead marks in that role.

What changed and for what reason is a mystery.

I went and found it, it was in the first quarter. I had the order slightly wrong, Walker rucks inside the F50 with 12:56 left on the clock, then Thilthorpe rucks around 60m out with 12:43 left on the clock, and Curtin rucks inside the F50 with 12:31 left on the click.

Three different F50(ish) rucks within 25 seconds of play! Also, Thilthorpe rucked inside F50 shortly before all that as well, with 13:10 left on the clock.

In any event, Curtin currently has a career total of 0 hitouts, so obviously not a huge focus for him :p
Does Curtin kick a goal after that Ruck contest?

I recall him doing the Ruck and then immediately running to the other side, not following the other Ruckman up the ground

Ball come back i50 and he is on the end of it.

It was clever play.

Yes, it was essentially a draw in the ruck contest, a North player clears but it is marked by Hinge, quick play-on to Keays on the paint of 50m, who then spots up Curtin who has created 10m of space on his opponent in the other pocket.

I did wonder if it was a bit of a set play.

It was quite direct ball movement once they got the turnover. Curtin not taking up a defensive position after the Ruck contest as well

He didn't move up the ground, rather other side of tge F50

I think it's been at least 3 years. I'd guess 4.

I couldn't believe it when we started doing it. Has to be one of the dumbest ideas we've had.

A comedian from the US. I'm not really a fan, but he's very famous these days.
He's a lesser-known comedian but does a great Donald Trump (got Netflix? Have a look).
There are several youtube clips of him-as-Trump. I just noticed a few other posters have said same, above <SNAP>. Apologies.
Drugs Are Bad Mackay? , Google is your friend :sneaky: .

Almost as good as my imitation of the Orange Mutant. :p
I'd like to see that :D; please post.
Jamie Fox does a great Trump as well (youtube).

I recall a News clip (but can't find it) where an African American man said he did not want to meet
"The Orange Man'.
Since then I've referred to TRUMP as TOM and more recently TOM2.0, in all emails to friends.

If we win 2 of the next 3, I'll say we're a big finals chance.
5-1 would mean we'd need only 8 of the last 17 games to make Finals. Very do-able, with 4 of our last 6 games at AO.
Win all 3 and maybe we can start to talk about home finals and double chances.
6-0, jeez I'd love that provided we're not the side that starts on fire, then fades as the Season gets harder.
It's happened to many a hot-starting side.
I want us to be playing our best (and winning) footy in August/September.

try catching the podcast from todays SEN brekkie show with Gary and Tim. So many positive crows comments:

  • Building an amazing defence
Who said that, please? Our defence has leaked 250 points in 3 games ie 83.3/game.
Hardly "amazing".
On numbers alone the GCS have been miserly (55.5 points against/game, but only 2-game sample).
  • Curtin having a good season after huge summer
Yes, clearly, but hardly insightful on their part. Any comments on Game style, in-game Coaching moves etc?
  • Tim asking if Tex is still our best forward and Gary saying TT, Fog and possibly even Curtin gone past him
Ridiculous, by Gary (not you).
Tex is our highest-ever goalkicker.
We have 6 of the Top20 in 2025 after 3 games --- Thilthorpe/Fogarty 9 each, Keays 7, Rachele/Tex 6.
If goals are the measuring stick, then Thilthorpe and Fogarty are our best 2 forwards, then Keays (did they even mention Keays?), BUT
if the measuring stick is footy nous + experience + on-field leadership there's Tex, then daylight.
Curtin not good enough to tie Tex's bootlace at this stage.
  • Mentioned we are number one at moving the footy in the whole competition and thats what matters these days
Interesting stat. What were the acts that constitute "moving the footy", kicks + handballs, or more nuanced things like run and overlap, converting turnovers to scores, blocks/shepherds and other 5%ers etc?

I saw that.

I dunno though, it seems a bit early for that kind of thinking.
This.
Top-4 is Talking-Head-speak to get non-thinkers and our happy clappers excited.

Strong chance to make Top 8 after 3-0 start. I Googled but couldn't find a record on how many teams started
3-0 and missed Finals.
Top-4 is too early to predict.
