Interesting test case for the stricter crime laws that contributed to the LNP's election victory. Given the very serious nature of the crimes, if the alleged perpetrators are found guilty, many would think would be appropriate to apply the stronger laws, despite the ages of the alleged perpetrators.

I would argue a diversionary program, as some have argued for for various types of youth crime, for these types of offences, would be inappropriate.

Life with the chance of parole after 20 years would seem appropriate. Life without chance of parole if they were 18.

A lot of specifics in this post were wrong because I underestimated pre-polling's effect, so my assessment was too generous to the ALP, but I stated that the ALP had a 75% chance of winning at least 36 seats - and they won 36 seats.
