Well that's the best possible outcome.
But Allan is a much worse Ginbey, and Gross is a much worse Long if used that way.
These are players that haven’t even played a game yet.
Bo Allan will be an outstanding AFL player, can already kick the footy 10m’s further than Ginbey and can win his own contested footy and is quicker, and taller.
The majority of your posts leave me scratching my head.

Perryman is on 900k at Collingwood. Baker is better than Perryman

Maybe provide a source for Houston or Smith, I dont believe Houston is on such little pay

His source for Baker's salary is taking 2 + 2 = 5, there's no way he's got any sources, except maybe HP, which is the promite of sauces.

Guilty:tearsofjoy:,

But it is more likely that we amble around 7-12 for the next 3 years and they play more games than they deserve and ultimately get chopped.
7-12? Do you mean wins? Thatd be great.
3 years of development while not being shit, then when the younger guys start to get to 21-24 years old thats when we can push higher on the ladder hopefully.

We are still discovering players and need long term replacements for Gov, Yeo and Kelly so its hard to really guess where we will be in 3 years.

We could just wait for the scratchies to get a more realistic gauge on the whole shebang (coach, gameplan, players, positions)
Otherwise it seems we're back on the ol' merry-go-round again...

I know I sound like a broken record.... but is anyone heading down to training today?

This off season is dragging and the amount of media content from the WC media team seems to decrease year on year to the point where all the content is just tik tok reels zoomed in on players sweaty faces while they drink water...

Has there been any press conferences with Woosha and Mini? I'm surprised give the 50 back pages of the West Harley got last year, Mini would be getting a fair bit of attention being the new coach...

Just wanted to give a BIG shout out to those legends who head down to training and take the time to write up a report for those of us who don't get a chance. This is a great service to the club and supporter base - it's greatly appreciated!

I don’t think you watched very closely if all you can describe him as; is a “ back pocket “
I'm sure he can play lots of roles , midfield and forward too but mini has him playing as a defender but probably not a rebound defender with his skills.

I've had him in various supercoach teams over the last few years so I know he doesn't get a lot of the ball and goes missing a lot .

What was the point in paying so much in salary and draft capital just to turn around and play as a back pocket or general defender?

If he was a free agent fine its a free hit but to split pick 3 is a waste of finite resources.

If for the pre season Baker trained midfield with the intent of playing as a mid our biggest weakness that is fine .

I would have taken perryman .

Is Baker better than perryman ? Perryman is a midfielder that was shifted to the HBF because GWS has a glut of mids and perryman is an elite kick .

Free agent so we would have kept our picks .

Also not a midget .

Perryman is playing midfield at Collingwood because they needed to bolster their midfield.

We need elite mids and traded for a back pocket , forward pocket and a treacle slow HFF we are using as a mid .

Can the melts over splitting pick 3 and picking Allan get moved into a 2024 trade/draft period retrospective thread?

I just don't understand why people are melting?

There's a solid argument that WC won the trade/draft period as a whole.

Are people still melting that we lost 3 games in a row post bye in 2018 on the way to winning the premiership?

People are upset over an arbitrary number that could've netted us a completely unproven kid over 3x proven senior players, at an age profile our list desperately needs, as well as an unproven kid taken 11 spots later(disregarding FS/Academy picks), when we could've given up pick 14 we got for Barrass for him instead.

But oh wait we couldn't have, because Hawthorn jumped the shark. They were then upset that we didn't have an extra top 20 pick for it.

But, oh wait again, the kid we would've picked originally at 14 lasted until our second rounder anyway, despite WCE trying to trade back in.

You can't compare Baker to players who never considered joining WC.

The sad reality is that WC aren't a destination club and our "first choice" prospects probably laugh at us when we call them up asking if they want to play for the Eagles.

People hanging their hopes on Hutchs 1 good game v Cats last year as being his usual output should remember Luke Edwards game v Richmond and how he went after that

We seem to have a type

I wish Hutch all the best but hope we don't expect the world.

Agree somewhat RE expectation, but after watching him train a few weeks back and watching his small sample size last year I would be surprised if he didn’t make the grade.

Has that real dog in him, hunts the player with the ball and tackles with intent. Naturally finds the ball, is athletically gifted.

Skills and at time decision making are potentially his biggest flaw, and hopefully that will improve as he gets more comfortable.

Agree the WC media team is not the best in the biz. But what do you really expect from them?

This is McQualters 1st year, no doubt behind the doors there are some major tactical/structural plans being developed that they do not want anyone privvy to.

What insight is an interview with McQualter or Woosha going to provide? It'll be the usual nothing talking checkpoints.

TBH I was a big fan of the player highlights packages they used to put together for players at the end of the season.

Obviously would love more preseason training videos but that might be asking too much...

But generally speaking, since Christmas, Geelong has uploaded 40 videos to their youtube account compared to WC's 12...

Whether insightful or not, it's enjoyable just to get anything footy related at this time of year

Should also see natural growth courtesy of an AFL preseason and more time in our system with more leaders and pieces around him. He's not going to be Bont or Cripps but big body and good leap/mark is a good starting point. Something to work with.

Jeez what a positive post. The only like you received coming from Random, who unsurprisingly supports your negativity.
If you get down to training and look at Hutchinson, who is in the process of completing his 1st preseason, you’ll see he is noticeably bigger, fitter, and has some very good skills.
Honestly why not be optimistic about Hutchinson, could be another string to our midfield bow.
