St Bedes will be a lot better team this year. Top 2 for sure. Last season in Prem B was a tale of two halves for them. The first half they were getting used to the loss of a number of players and their younger players were undisciplined and then the second half the coach got them to knuckle down with Jack Behnk in particular being a goal kicking king on their smaller Mentone home ground. Jake Harding, Zac Calvez and Darcy Fountain running around everywhere and they started being competitive with other teams. Two wins in the last three games including beating Beaumaris. The loss of Jack Ferraro is huge, but they have recruited very well, and some good names are back and the young under 19s keep pushing up. They have a good new crop of players there. It helps to have a great junior and u19 program. The new ruckman Barnes will almost win the B and F in the league.

St Bedes will be very very hard to beat.

I love the PR, but in all honesty the club was a basket case last season. The round 18 win was the highlight of the season, the other 2 wins (and their only other wins) were against clubs who were at their lowest points in the season, you mentioned Beaumaris, the bottom half of C grade would've defeated them in the back half last year.

As I said in a previous post, these recruits will need to be some of the best in the comp. For me I have the AJAX on top, great team last year and not often you lose 3 games and finish third.

Are we forgetting the Vultures are still in C grade? They seem to have the wood over sides such as Ajax.
other then a hiccup to GE late last year they looked like the 2nd strongest side after Carey for most of last year.

The Vultures beat Glen Eira by 179 points in the first round of the season and Glen Eira beat the Vultures by 52 points in the third last round. Almost a 40 goal turn around. I reckon that is not only the highest turn around in VAFA history but probably in the history of any footy anywhere, any time.

Are the Vultures genuine?

Still the preliminary final against Hampton could have gone either way last year.

Mitch Brown seems to get injured even at this level of footy. He missed 6 games. When fit, he was extraordinary. But the injuries curtailed him late in the season. He is assistant coach as well as working for someone who sponsors the club. Max Phillips is a gun. Is Kai Day still there? He was awesome last year. Best young talent in the division. Josh Stolop and Jorden Barden will improve. Darcy Brown is quality.

But haven't they also lost a couple of dab old hands as well.

Absolutely they will be at the top of the pile this year.

They just need to negotiate their season so their best 18 are fit and firing and not carrying injuries into the finals.

No simon, achillies. Hard to replace 60-70 goals

Stolp has left. Southern footy league.

And St Pauls
certainly, have to if you want to keep up with the sides in your league. But it is mainly aimed at recently delisted ex-VFL players wanting to make a few bucks.

Look at Keilor. Another 4 or 5 clubs in the Essendon league would be in the same position if investigated.

The u19s tend to go where their mates are playing.

Looks like Parkside are coming. I wouldn't be surprised if they were there and there abouts.

Frost knew that for the Devils to start rising through the ranks, they had to find a way to keep their best young talent by continuing to build the bridge between their junior and senior programs.

“It’s got to be a cultural focus, it really does,” he says.

“We’re 100% about inclusion. We include as many people as we can. To be a better club, we need to be a bigger club.

“We’ve got a feeder team, three senior men’s teams and a women’s team. Our juniors train with our seniors, which is uncommon. We want to make sure we develop our kids to be the best people they can be. Resilience, courage, authenticity.

“We have five senior players coaching junior teams at our club. To have players giving back like that is amazing. It creates a continual cycle of connection and improvement.

“Kids coming into our senior program at just 16 or 17 years old and being embraced by our young leaders aged 23 or 24 helps them pass through their threshold quicker because of that encouragement. The belief they instil in each other gives me the biggest buzz.

“Our juniors will come on quicker, and we’ll attract the right players if they’re feeling embraced. That’s the highlight for me, not making the Grand Final. It was a beautiful thing to see our players really go for it.”

They seem ready for sustained excellence.

I thought I read here somewhere they lost some of their good players due to travel?

They'll be a team to watch for sure.

In the WA Amateurs:
  • Cockburn Lakes' 1st XVIII went from G grade in 1984 to B grade in 1989 on the back of five flags in a row (G, F, E, D and C)
  • Redcliffe’s 1st XVIII went from G grade in 1990 to C grade in 1994 on the back of four flags in a row (G, F, E and D).

They are totally different clubs. Marcellin has lots of money and wonderful facilities having won Premier A in 2021 and Glen Eira runs off the smell of an oily rag playing on a "tin pot" oval next to a cycling track and was down in Div 3 as late as 2018. Yet Glen Eira beat Marcellin both times last year.

The first time they played each other at night at Packer Park, Marcellin were 5 goals to nothing in front at quarter time, but Glen Eira made a stunning recovery to win. At the end of the game, Marcellin reported to the VAFA that Glen Eira had been drinking outside (given there was a function for the first home game of the season) and that Glen Eira supporters were homophobic which is interesting given Glen Eira have openly gay players.
Premier A? Wtf u on about lad?
