Hi Jen,Training as per the website.
Given they dont have thur or next wed here, I'm assuming those will be light sessions.

Also if he goes well down back could also help free up Howe to go forward more often. Good to have versatility if needed.A benefit of Reef being in the side as a backman if he makes it, is that he would be perfect to swing forward if we needed to change things up to find a goal. He has always had a knack of finding the goals every time he plays even if it’s from limited touches.
Keeping him fit is another thing. I can't recall the last time he played a full season
Where is the stickied post?Hi Jen,
To save you being asked multiple times I’ve “stickied” this post.
Maybe you could update as we go along?
Jen / regular track watchers - based on your pre-season training observations to date, if you ranked a top three -Pre-season training. - January 29
9:30am.
Four of our elite players have been injured. The rest have only just come back from a break.Jen / regular track watchers - based on your pre-season training observations to date, if you ranked a top three -
Who has stood out / emerged on the contested possession front?
Who has the best contested marking hands?
Who are the best tacklers?
Who has the best distribution hands in a stoppage?
Who are the clearest improvers?
Who are the best movers through heavy traffic?
Who are the best kicks?
Finally, do you feel the squad is noticeably different to what you saw at the same time last year? Do they seem any more connected, has the change to the coaching ranks brought about a noticeable change?
I'll try answer some of these later, but in terms of the coaching. Skipworth had taken over for most of pre-season. Until now. Fly's taken back over. But other than Boyd, not too much has changed. Oh and the inclusion of Murphy. Its business per usual. Everyone is in the same mindset from what ive seen.Jen / regular track watchers - based on your pre-season training observations to date, if you ranked a top three -

Murphy was an excellent game reader though, not sure Reef has that.
Hopefully he can become a mainstay back. Be a good transition like a few before him- Presti, Taz, Leon etcA benefit of Reef being in the side as a backman if he makes it, is that he would be perfect to swing forward if we needed to change things up to find a goal. Let's not forget that it took Murph 5-6 seasons to lock down that Key Defender role. Reef still has a bit of time on his side, although you get the feeling this becomes a make or break season with the change of position.
I see why you prefer Fin nowtbf, in 2018, he was more of a forward so there was less impact on his body.
2023 was a miracle for him he played that much.
Those few who have identified the pace issue now that Noble has gone are correct. Pace and dare were his great attributes, supplemented by great courage given his lack of physical strength. McInnes may be able to supply some of these: I don't know if his pace and endurance are actually at Noble's levels. He is an obvious upgrade overhead. If he can also supply some of what Murphy gave us, then there is probably a place on the backline for him.
No two players are identical. McInnes will not be one of the players we have lost. I expect he will be trying to use what he has in his own unique way. There is not much we can say until we get a view of what that might be.
As an aside, I believe that Gold Coast will get far more from Noble than they will from Rioli. The trade values of those two were heavily skewed.
Reef will play an entirely different role to JFN.
Also, Rioli is a far superior footballer to JFN.

Can’t answer these. They’re great questions, but to intangible for anyone to properly answer without being on the inside. I also expect Naicos would be top of the pops for most of these if he’d been in full training post Christmas…Finally, do you feel the squad is noticeably different to what you saw at the same time last year? I thought Jon Anderson retired so we didn't have to hear his drooling opinions that he disguises as journalism anymore. Bloke is so stuck in the 70s and 80s that he probably thinks Rick James is still #1 on the charts.
No coincidence both Grand Final seasons
