Port given permission to wear the stripes

Your arguement falls down because you don't know the facts.

The Port Adelaide Football club has been a contniual entity since 1870. It changed leagues, guernsey and emblem in 1996 to keep the whinging underachievers named Collingwood happy. Port have always been a successful football club. Eddie is fat. We are better than you. We are top of the ladder.

These are the facts.

So I enlighten you to why the Sydney Swans demand more historical kudos than Port Power and you come back with "Eddie is fat".

BTW...
Just had another look on the AFL website.

Still no information regarding Port Power, Port Magpies or anything Port prior to 1996.

And of course you've been successful.....Imagine how much more successful Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood could have been if they could have been playing Grand Finals against Sturt, West Adelaide and Norwood.
Geez, even St.Kilda could've snagged a few premierships in South Australia.

Whatever - sick of the arguement. Lets just stick to football, which of course we are better than you - not bad for a bunch of hick towners, being better than the self proclaimed biggest football club in Australia.

You're better at whinging and using ****y colours in your club colours.
Magenta, Pink and now teal. :thumbsu:
Black and White stripes are reserved for real clubs with real men, not ****s from a hick town.

Oh and while we are self proclaiming.
We are the biggest football club in Australia. Bigger and better than any small time imposter who claims to be a magpie.

Bigger not better - the stats don't lie.

Rocca to dominate in 2007. pfft.

Nahhhh...it doesnt work that way champ...that's taking the piss.

Eddie said he might compromise if u lot werent greedy....he did compromise but dont assume it cant change.

Port Power are still etched in teal ..established 1996....nothing has changed other than they let u wear a jumper once a yr to stop u from the incessant whinging and the ridiculous need for some form of cultural heritage beyond the boundaries of the original agreement.

Collingwood were always and will remain the only magpies in the AFL...with the only recognised Black and White colours.

Guess what - Collingwood are the only Magpies in the AFL wearing black and white... talk about stating the obvious.

Collingwood and their football division (aka AFL HQ) also have formally acknowledged Port Adelaide's history as a 137 year old club, that wore black and white in the SANFL up until 1997, when they came into the AFL and added teal blue and silver to their colours...

Which is my point entirely. Deal with it.

Why should the AFL website have information about Port Adelaide prior to 1997 - we were in the SANFL then. We are still the same club, but we have only been in the AFL since 97.

Yes playing in the SANFL was easier than the VFL, but would Essendon, Carlton or Collingwood have been able to win 32 premierships in the SANFL? Possibly, but not a lot more than that so we are at least comparable with these clubs.

You could also look at the fact that we won the Champions of Australia title more times than any other club.

You remind me of Adelaide Crows supporters, going on about the size of your members and the money you make.
I know that's what really matters....

Overheard at the 'G a few weeks ago..
Port Adelaide supporter to Collingwood supporter "Ha ha, we won".
Collingwood supporter to Port Adelaide supporter "Yeah, but we've got more money!"
Port Adelaide supporter to Collingwood supporter "Oh, well that settles it then. Let's just give you the premiership now."

Congratulations on being the biggest club in Australia, shame you can't win a flag. You know in most countries the big clubs can do well on the field as well as off.

I'm looking for the serious answer to this. So if anyone actually knows, can they let me know please. Thanks.
Serious
Port Adelaide will play in their home guernsey, and Collingwood will play in their ONLY guernsey.

Humourous
The only one they have ever had... except for the time when the black was a little less, and before that it was a little less than that... and they wore all white against Swan Districts one year... but it's always been the same. Except for all the sponsorship logos all over it (they have more money, in case you didn't know).

The agreement where port wears a clash jumper at home to collingwood has expired - it expired a year ago, as port wore their regular jumper in their game against the magpies at AAMI.

Port will wear their home strip, Collingwood might wear their clash strip, although the problem with that is, like Port's home strip, it has a white back with black numer, prehaps they might wear their home strip as it might create less of a clash.

You'll be laughing on the other side of your face if the Power continue to attact less than 35,000 people to a darby match against the Crows.

Keep that up and the AFL will merge Port and the Kangaroos together and send you both off to Southport QLD....:thumbsu:

The serious answer is that we will wear black and white stripes. There is no clash but if the hysterics and those that like to make posturing statements get too hysterical you might at some point see Collingwood wear the old black on white to avoid the non existent clash. I look forward to Willaim’s grandstanding on this leading into to the pre game hype up and resultant big crowd baying for blood – and going home disappointed.

You only got 35k to a game against us a couple of weeks ago, we're not so far behind you...

Shame you can’t count and in most countries a club that wins 2 flags in half a century isn’t well followed or any sort of big club but here we are. Amazing phenomenon those Magpies.

Congratulations on being the biggest club in Australia,

Thanks, be thankful that you're allowed to play dress ups and pretend to be the biggest club in Australia at least one more time.

You know in this country no-one gives a **** about Port Power.

Serious

When did swan districts enter the AFL or VFL again?

Is there an agreement in place to make sure Port didn't wear red & black, or black & yellow, or red & blue, or . . . . ???
No because they didn’t want to wear those colours when they joined so there wasn’t any issue with existing clubs which had those colours. I would have though that was pretty basic stuff Jeffrey.
I don't understand why there is an agreement in place for Collingwood other than pandering to their insecurities.
Maybe, just maybe, the AFL thought it important to look after the significant and important interests of a pre existing club and events since like this whole debate clearly indicate why that would have been an issue then and going forward. Port didn’t have to agree to anything but they chose to. I don’t think it was unreasonable in any event. It just makes sense to avoid having to very similar jumper designs, emblems etc.

You sure are amazing, amazing that such a poor club could be so well followed. You should be proud of that.

I'll stick to my team though, I think winning premierships give me more joy than seeing my club's record profits.

To this day i still dont know why Collingwood have anything to do with this? It's our heritage. they can ****off! Stop whinging about the whole thing. Port Didn't have any plans to wear this in normal premiership games anyway, you precious idiots.

That's right I was there, sitting there with my plastic poncho on trying to stay dry.

By the way, we've played 3 matches so far this year infront of more than 70,000 people....and it's only round 7!

No wonder you bozzo's want to disguise yourselves as Collingwood.
