I have a vague recollection of a Margarey medal presentation where I think Kevin Crease made a joke that went down like a lead balloon. Something about McGuiness having a sore foot and Crease saying he probably should have corns removed or something like that.

Creasey was a good Port man and liked needling other teams. When Greg Anderson won the Magarey Medal he said that it looked better around his neck than Scott Salisbury did (Salisbury had coat-hangered Ando in the Qualifying Final the weekend before the presentation).

A fair assumption, but it was Michael Porter a Hawthorn team mate of John Kennedy Jr.

There are many, many reasons why Port Adelaide supporters despise the SANFL and Max Basheer.

But the manner in which Basheer and his team gave the bird to the SACA elites at Adelaide Oval in the early 1970s to take the monumental risk to make a freehold purchase of swampland as part of the West Lakes development and build Football Park deserves respect.

If only he acknowledged that risk was taken with the substantial financial support and capital of the Port Adelaide Football Club and its supporters whose attendances made Footy Park such a financial success when it was at most risk of failure.

The SANFL, Basheer and his successors ignoring and continuing to ignore the role of the PAFC in the creation of Football Park, the Crows and the move of top tier footy back to Adelaide Oval in 2014 is the real 'treachery' that continues to haunt the the Adelaide Football Club and SANFL.

But if you ask around on the boards here about port they’re absolutely loaded up with mistruths like

Port lives on handouts from the afl (despite us being exactly mid table on the information the afl itself releases

Our players are rapists and cop punches (despite these things not actually happening)

We bleed the sanfl dry (despite the opposite was happening)

And so on and so on.

In reality none of this shit is true, but opposition fans have this strange phenomenon where they believe all this really happened, and when you prove it didn’t they’re genuinely shocked.

Was saying he’s done a great job with Port and if he wants to keep coaching he’d be the perfect choice for Tasmania.
