That economic genius Trump raking in bazillions from his Liberation Day Tariff announcement, the States are back, baby!
And Norfolk island is part of a Australia for you Russian bots

Who knew Norfolk Island exported so many Colleen McCullough books

BTW - his presser was pretty funny. When he introduced a man that knows more about industry than economists and professors, it was of course, a total South Park stereotype complete with Maga hat and Hulk Hogan moustache talking about bringing back our "jerbs". Not a single indicator of how many jobs, the tariffs would create. Not how long it would take or cost to build the infrastructure. Nothing about how automation is now a major part of the automobile industry and that your traditional factory workers probably won't have jobs anyway. Nothing on how much an American made car would cost compared to a foreign import.

Watch this space. Give it 12 months and he will be protesting with pitch forks on how Trump ruined his life.

Listening to the radio, it was noted that most Australian beef goes into burgers over there. So expect the price of a Big Mac or a Whopper to rise pretty quickly. Can't imagine that will play out well.

Beef prices went up 50% in the last year. And 100% (doubled) since 2019.

I'm guessing restaurants were already stretched on margin, so the 10% is gonna have to get passed on. But still, the price of beef is probably 1% of the burger price, but it'll either bite into US profits or US consumers.

The kinds of beef Australia exports to the US are globally traded commodities, US tariffs won't change the price.

From the Age -
Heard and McDonald islands – two sub-Antarctic specks home to penguins, a few Australian scientists and no permanent population – are also facing a 10 per cent tariff.
I wonder which of the MAGA brains trust came up with that.
And Norfolk Island 29%. Seriously!

Apparently Norfolk Island exports some seeds.

Minimal amounts of them, but it's probably more than they import from the US so TARIFF THEM

The only explanation here is that they downloaded a list of countries and dependencies from Wikipedia.
