Probably more for the Is the US the Worst Nation thread, but two books I feel really strip it bare are Nick Bryant’s fabulous recent Forever War, and going back a bit, Kurt Anderson’s Fantasyland, which was released before Trump won in 2016, but shows how a Donald Trump was always going to come, and had been coming a long time in America. I feel I had the scales lifted from my eyes by both books.

Just started Fantasyland and only a few pages in but oh boy does it start to reveal why so many Americans so willingly became a part of Trump’s cult and of course things like below .
