Don’t expect him to run free at HB again all year. Teams will now put a defensive minded forward on him every game going forward. Now the real test is how he will handle it.
If you tag Rozee at HB, well JHF and Butters are not tagged in the midfield. Havent seen teams put 2 tags on before. I also think Rozee is very evasive so easier for him to run out of a tag at HB where there's more space than a congested midfield.

This is why we have to hold onto Jed at all costs. Can't afford for him to be on the market.

"A couple of games he (Connor) has owned - there have been some efforts he would like to take back" Joe Richards.

This is good to hear. He us still a young skipper and this gives me hope that he is actually wanting to learn and get better rather than just deflect and deny.

He'll get more attention now we've shown our card, but I don't expect that to make a huge difference - Houston was a double AA half-back crucial to our gameplan and only occasionally faced a hard tag.

Teams are too worried about Butters and JHF in the middle, and also trying to drag Aliir out of position. There's only so much focus you can put on disrupting the opposition over your own game.

They tried tagging him today, but seemed to shake it off easier across half back. Seems like his natural position.

Brisbane learned the hard way trying to tag Daicos

27 disposals, 825m gained. And that was playing the second half on ball.

Who’s dumb idea was it to push Rozee into the midfield and be replaced by that moron Rat face who nearly cost us the game ?

In that last quarter I'd have gone with Drew, Butters and one of JHF, Boak or Mead as Wines was injured. You could tell the impact Wines has on this team because once he went out, our midfield started breaking down. Rozee should've never returned to midfield

I thought the scoring chain in the third from Lachie Jones's tackle for a Joe the Goose was the highlight of the day.

That early contested mark and goal was very impressive by Rozee and set a high standard for the day. It was superb work by Powell-Pepper to keep the ball alive. Obviously the Hornet deserves praise as well.

Speaking of Powell-Pepper, I also thought his courageous mark/free kick in the centre of the ground that led to a scoring chain to Rioli who missed a hard shot was also a play of the day. Considering we've got guys who don't like any type of contact, this really stood out for me and I felt that Powell-Pepper was starting to have that influence back into his game.

Playing behind the ball in defence makes Connor run in straight lines - without the continual zigging and zagging, which just disrupts the leading patterns of our guys forward of the ball.
Also frees him up more from tags.
Provides some experience and someone to organise the defensive structure.
Still allows him to impact the scoreboard.
Had 30% less disposals per game the past two weeks, but is playing far better IMHO than earlier this season 😃

All in all, a win:win for us.

I just hope he can consistently lock down this position for good. From memory when he went into the midfield he was very impressive before stumbling through the last year. This also appeared to be a pattern from the start of his career in the forward line.
