In all seriousness though, why wouldn't you pull the pin earlier and let the incoming coach choose his support staff and head to the draft with his own ideas?
Yeah it's not ideal timing. Although it seems like they might have been planning this for a while considering Longmire is staying at the club. Giving the role to Cox who is already there will definitely make the transition smoother.

Their season only finished 7 weeks ago. You'd want him to be all in until then. Who knows how it went down - but 7 weeks to decide seems fine to me.

I dunno, this smacks of Cletus living in the trailer with his ex and her new boyfriend.

You just know the cops are gonna get called out at some stage. Someone's gonna have a black eye and a story to tell.

Carlton will be firm downstairs with this announcement. They love sacking coaches to throw money at a saviour coach that’s checked out

This was exactly my first thought. With Wright as the in coming CEO, Vossy would be sweating

Looking back at the draft, whenever the camera crossed to Sydney’s bunker, it was noticeable how Cox was almost animated and so invested.

I know he's an assistant, but I didn't think he had much of a say in list management. It was almost like he was calling the shots.

Maybe they knew then, or maybe that's how Cox is and I've only just paid attention.

Amazing that our fresh shiny coach is now in the top half of the longest serving list!

Wont take much for it to happen again. Voss is a spud
Imagine our club banned all communication with the outside world.
No imagery and no quotes - he’d/they’d be stuffed for ideas.
PS: Fly is also banned from talking to him.
