I'm struggling to see why the club itself is in the firing line with these dickheads.

What has WCE done wrong here specifically? Other than give ******* Allen the captaincy in the first place, which was a dumb idea. They're holding fast and not getting bent over by an injury prone flog and his manager for a long AF contract extension which has bit us on the schlong many many times before.

You'd think the media narrative would clap us on the back for being stern with contract negotiations, but every kent seems to think it's US that are letting OSCAR down, JFC. Spare me.

WCE "didn't build a nice environment for Barrass..." You ****ing wot m8?

Its not what the has done. Its what they plan 5o do in response to this.

If we do nothing we a a bunch of weak pr.cks.

Stand him down. Dont be pussies about it.

Club of nice guys. Bend over at the trade table, bend over on draft night, bend over mid-season and set a precedent to the league that your even your captain can be recruited all in the interest of being good blokes to deal with. Lets continue on with these years of dog shit business because we need to keep everybody happy. Would not surprise me if it's now an indicator to the league of an open-season on a disgruntled Harley Reid and whoever else they can get their hands on.

Watch out mate, the Bigfooty WCE happy clapper division will come for you now :tearsofjoy:

" JUST SUPPORT THA BOYZ" "LIAM BAKAH IS HARD AZZ" " GO SUPPORT THE PURPLES "

Think the AFL world is a little sensitive with FA, and how it works.

  • Hawks are doing what is best for them, I applaud them and this is want arrogant clubs should do. We used to be a big arrogant club!
  • Ozzie is doing what is best for him, and it is his right. He was just caught, which was a mistake.
  • Eagles must do what is best for them, hold firm on contract negotiations, and do exactly what the Hawks are doing. Throw your ****ing weight around the comp and target who we want and if this means Hawk players like Ward, Meek then do it.

Players should be professional enough to play on, but I have a feeling this is impacting Ozzie's form. This should go two ways, like the royal family, say nothing, dont respond and keep it moving.

If there is some angst because Ozzie made a poor choice in being caught in such a scenario, then step out, take responsibility, and ensure, as a player of this club, that you do whatever you can in the season to earn respect through blood, sweat, and tears.

Although the best result is that he leaves and we get pick 2 or 3, depending on where we finish. I recall only two seasons ago, every media outlet was reviewing our list to see who could be moved on, so we fast-tracked the rebuild. The hypocrisy of this game is silly.....

Not according to Buddy and co!

The other players you mentioned there was no reports of the Hawks meeting up with them in season. That was the difference ….

The Hawks also paid well for some of those players, the AFL didn’t compensate the other team.

* apart from Frawley!

There’s no comparing Buddy to Allen or Frawley
😂

Show me one report in the media of Buddy catching up with the Swans during the season.

Buddy and co is not a news article mate.

Cough up or shut up.

I can not attest to whether Bud physically met with the swans, but it is definitely widely known and discussed that he and his management were meeting with Sydney all through the 2013 season. Andrew Ireland has spoken openly about this, Liam Pickering managing him at the time has spoken openly about Buddy being in talks with Ireland, John Longmire and himself through the 2013 season. These are all first hand participants who have openly spoken about multiple discussions with Buddy throughout the 2013 season.

As I said, I can not 100% say he physically sat down in a room and met with them, but one would assume it would not be a stretch to think at one time between the 2012 GF when Buddy's management first approached Sydney, and him leaving in October 2013 that they met

Here are some first hand accounts from the Swans CEO and Bud's manager confirming the timing of the talks, and who the participants were

We don't mind shitting on other boards when they have a good melt but gee whiz, this thread would be gold reading for a lot of opposition supporters right now. This is as good a melt thread I've ever seen on Bigfooty, no exaggeration.
Weren't around for the pick 3 trade thread last year?🤣

Thats gone as soon as its public, should be him in front of the media answering questions,he dug his own hole by being a campaigner
Do Oscar and Mitchell share the same managers ? If the meeting between Oscar and Mitchell is the result of a leak then it could be a ploy by his managers to get the Eagles to hurry up and increase their offer. Managers will do anything to increase their 20% share of a players contract.
By Oscars form this year the club should submit a lower offer for his services and use him as trade bait.
The players should also treat him the way the Gold Coast players did when they told Tom Lynch to Eff Off.

Allen pissing off and us getting band 1 would really assist with our rebuild. Don't go and ruin it by overpaying and bringing over Warner FFS. Anyone suggesting that is a straight up moron. Just wait 2 years.

Piss Allen off and draft Cody Curtin.

Shanahan and Curtin can fill that void with the other talls we have. Get Chad as RFA. Do you see Hawks coughing up 10 picks for Allen or are they smart campaigners and paying for an Oppo captain with nothing other than salary

I thought the stretch of merciless floggings in 2023 that culminated in a 171-point loss to Sydney was our low point.

Last year a few rays of sunshine.

This is now our rock bottom.

This is a team that is screaming for leadership & commitment. There was a genuine lack of capable senior players who could nurture the juniors through to the next era. So much so that the club had to sacrifice a premium pick to trade in Baker to be add to the senior mix.

This squad needs the senior heads to be long termers with a mindset of sacrificing their immediate chances of success to build a club.

For the captain to show any sign that they do not buy into this is a clear sign they are not fit to be the captain of this club right now.

Good luck to Oscar.

But also, f*ck right off from leadership and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Could you do me a favour please and show me an article mentioning Lance Franklin was speaking to the Swans published during the 2013 AFL season please?

You don’t need to find an article showing that he met with the Swans during the 2013 season. All I need you to do is find an article published in 2013 between January and September indicating Lance Franklin was considering joining the Swans and had spoken with them.

If you really want to challenge yourself and impress me try and find an article published in 2013 that Lance Franklin had met with the Swans or even the Giants for the matter during the season. Now again this article will need to be between January 2013 and September 2013 for that to be valid.

Ahh, so your issue is not with OA meeting with Sam and Co, it's just the fact that it was reported in the media? Players are fine and free to meet with anyone they want, it's just when it hits the papers that its a problem? Is that correct?

I'm not surprised we are a bit melty. We've been terrible for 4 seasons. We finally get in a new coach, with a new game plan and 3 rounds into the season our ****ing captain makes a public no confidence vote in the new regime.

Way to piss all over any hope we had Oscar.

It's a shocking look and the guy should be embarrassed that he thought it was an acceptable way to behave. I don't think anyone actually has an issue with Allen exploring his FA options but he's chosen basically the worst way to go about it.

The club probably set the meeting up such is his current levels of liability as a player at present.

Always had tickets on himself, huge prima-donna. Stamp him and get him straight out of our leadership

What annoys me most about the media coverage of this is it all seems to be aimed at Oscar and how he's dogged the club. I've heard little about the ethic/moral behaviour of Mitchell in this circumstance from any media outlets. I feel like they're scared to call him out for essentially his half of the situation - if they want to call out Oscar then call out Mitchell too, stop being so weak.
