to be fair, having the supporters of the team that is ostensibly your rival not take you particularly seriously and view you as an 'annoying little brother' would come across as quite patronising imo

almost akin to the relationship many freo supporters have with west coast
Poor Gold Coast ...

Actually I sometimes think it is the whole Club (Freo) that has the unhealthy relationship ... they seem destined to always be identified internally and externally by their relationship with the Eagles and as long as they are that they will never be good enough even when they win.

If Carlton lose to the Swans next week, I could see Voss get sacked. Yes this early.

Who would want to coach Carlton… you don’t get a chance. Too many mafioso powerbrokers itching to put a bullet on you when things aren’t going to plan.

The arrogance of that club is so disproportionate to where they have been in the last 25 years.

Carlton should've gone all in on the Papley trade a few years back when they almost had him over the line. Instead they're over invested on a bunch of flankers. They might to need to bite the bullet and trade out players for unders and pay a portion of their salaries like Collingwood did a couple years ago.

Surely its more than just the coach.

It seems every new Carlton coach is the panacea for their problems. First it was Bolton - the new good guy coach and starlett that served under Clarkson - then Teague, who all the players apparently just loved when he was interim and when they realised the following year that he wasnt that good, they then follow the crowd in appointing a coach that had already been a senior and would be better the second time round - and now thats not working.

So what are they going to do next time round?

If you ask me, its there recruiting and footy dept that needs to be sacked. Just singining any 'name' at will and paying overs such as Martin, Williams, Saad, Kennedy, all those GWS boys and now they are left with a list that the top end - Curnow, McKay, Cripps, Walsh, Weitering that take up so much cap along with many of the guys they have brought in that they probably cant attract anyone.

They should trade out a big name and hit one draft hard like we have done, Port and a few others and set up long term success, but to blame Voss, I can understand why Bruce Mathieson knows they are a basket case.

I think that is pretty much everyone’s point. Most Carlton coaches get sacrificed for the sins of others.

Pendlebury and Sidebottom continuing to play at a high has been a huge reason they are doing this. Two years ago you wouldn’t have predicted it

I might be a lone voice but I'm not writing Carlton off yet. Their structure needs a lot more work , they have too much top end talent and no one down the list to fill in the gaps between their good players and their very average ones. I'm not sure why they're going so poorly right now but they have too many good players to not fire up at some stage this year.

Carlton should go after Lohmann. We'll take Charlie Curnow off their hands

Do they though?

Top 5-6 is great, but Cripps is hobbling/woefully out of form, they don't have any mids that kick goals and their small and medium forward options are probably bottom 6 in the comp?

Can't wait for Operation Sam Walsh to the Lions.
