Richmond get away with absolute murder when it comes to holding the ball. At least half a dozen obvious ones not paid tonight. They get it, take on the player, get tackled, drop it and... Play on.
If Lynch wasn't pinged then there shouldn't have been one paid all night.

This is what I dislike the most. I’m not sure what the umpires are seeing or not seeing.

I'm not sure what it is really. Whether in Finals particularly that just about every game is a night match, that has helped the Tigers runball tap-on grubber crap, but they just seem to have the play that ekes out these wins in the Finals.

It's something i really find somewhat unappealing to say the least. We're all blessed (well most of us Cats fans here) to have seen genuine footy 'Played the game as it should be played', with high scoring, precise kicking and fast play on handballs. Richmond's runball pressure and just this knack of always being wherever a ball is heaved out from a pack, a contest or a spillage is just glorified rugby a bit, they take territory and then all fly forward to get goals out the back where they can. I thought the deliberate against the Port bloke was a bit hot, as he had two men within about a metre of his tap towards the line, and it's always these slugfest low scoring ugly games.

I'd love a side with pure football skill to just expose what Richmond does to the game as the crap it is....there's no question what we are seeing here is like the dark ages of footy compared to the Renaissance that Geelong did when lifting footy from the flooding Swans/Crows/Eagles tripe of the mid '00s. Can we beat Brisbane, and somehow be the knights in shining armour to save footy again?

I don't think i can take much more of Richmond style footy, and i actually think we need to beat them with our game, rather than join them in the gutter and beat them at their own fumbling, rushing, running and knocking-on style. It's not what footy should be in my opinion.

Richmond getting away with holding the ball is the 2020 version of Bulldogs players being allowed to throw the ball in 2016.
Yep, and it's just as much of a blight on the game. It takes what should be an advantage to the tackler and gives it to Richmond by taking an opposition player out of the mix while they throw/drop the ball to advantage.

Thats because players are either dumb or not strong enough to actually pin the arm. The amount of times our players lay 'tackles' that allow the player to get arms free and handpass is ridiculous. Dusty is an expert at getting a handpass off no matter how many arms are wrapped around him. PIN THE ****ING ARM FFS.

The Eagles and the Cats actually have the style of game designed to take the heat out of it and bring it up from the gutter. But if we are not on song, then it breaks down and the Tigers win.

Port just not good enough, to many poor performers tonight.

And hopefully we learnt (or were reminded) you CAN NOT just bomb the ball forward against this lot even after they have basically conceded first posession like they tend to do.

Too good - just too good - and it is going to take a hell of a performance from either Bris or Geel to beat them next week

I thought given the conditions it was a great game

Pt Adelaide can be proud of their effort - they gave everything

Nankervis ( how in hell did Syd clear him- their recruiting officer should be fired for trading him ) he did exactly what he did against Geel - deep defensive he took mark after mark after mark

Nah, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about players getting correctly tackled and stone cold dropping the ball or having prior opportunity, getting tackled and not disposing of it.

Richmond just makes teams play ugly rugby footy.

You can really see how their game was termed chaos. It's a flukey way to play, constantly just kicking it off the ground, tapping on and over at all costs. It almost looks like cheating after a while, but their players seem ready with positioning for that erratic cannonball style. Really fast smalls and runners are needed to counteract those free balls and contested balls, which we excel at.

Richmond are experts of getting the ball out whether its throwing it, handpassing it or dropping it. They want the ball moving and moving quickly so their little rat players can run and move it forward with soccer kicks, taps or throws. Richmond love the game being played on the ground.

From half time it felt just like the Geelong vs Richmond finals game last year. Just ineffectual bombing into our 50. Poor Port. They just weren’t allowed to play their game. I can sympathise.

WOW, PA shit their pants in the last quarter, panicked, then choked. Same old Port. I guess the argument about them being the best team in 2020 because they were on top all year has been answered. Like we all thought, they weren't. Lucked out from playing most of their games in Adelaide. Like I have thought all year, to win the flag this year you have to beat Richmond.

Mate it was pisssing down rain what do you expect - it wasnt dry conditions !!!

Every player on the field nearly deserves a medal - given the conditions it was a great contest

Geee I hate Richmond, but gee they look good.. don't worry if we make it next week id be rooting so hard for Geelong, but its going to be hard, as they do look the best team...
