We could honestly Bradbury our way into finals this year with the complete implosion of teams like Melbourne and Carlton
I reckon Brisbane, GWS, Hawks, Cats will all defo play finals.
Then Adelaide and suns will very likely play finals.
Then Collingwood, Bulldogs, ourselves, Saints, Sydney and Port to fight for the remaining 2 spots.

Watching 2024-5 Melbourne definitely is a bit like watching 2004-5 Lleyton Hewitt and asking yourself how the hell was this guy ever a grand slam winner and world #1 just a few years ago?
And then you remember he was extremely lucky and was in the right place at the right time between Sampras and Agassi declining and Federer emerging, and someone always has to win the slams. Even if they aren't really slam standard.
It's a reminder that luck still plays a part - we've made a helluva lot of mistakes as a club but we've never gotten Melbourne/Hewitt lucky either.

lol

Yeah dockeroo we get it it , you want Warner

No need to constantly talk kozzie down at every opportunity to reinforce the point.
-like seriously it’s his first game for the year ffs- in a team playing a brand of football that’s even worse than ours.

-anyway look on the bright side ,As others have mentioned at least his transition into our team should be seamless

Also I might add , neither is Warner the answer to all our problems either.

But he sure as shit will cost the team both in salary and picks as if he is.

Our game plan /coaching is the biggest issue that needs addressing before acquiring either player and thinking they’re a difference maker
Id be happy with Pickett if we got him for what he’s actually worth in a trade. If he was a good value acquisition. Which I reckon is around about pick 11-13.
Charlie Cameron was pick 12 when he went from Adelaide to Brisbane back in 2017. A good indicator of what a good value trade for Kozzie would look like.
General consensus here though is that he will cost us two first rounders at least. Thats not value in my opinion.

Maybe we could borrow Andrew Mackie from Geelong to negotiate on our behalf during trade week and land Kozzie for pick 22 and a future 3rd.

Ya pick 11-13 is dreamland stuff unfortunately m8.
Even OOC that would be a deal for us ., let alone 3 years still contracted.

Also CC example is actually a poor one- for starters as promising as he was his record as a player was no where near kozzies at the time of his trading and considering what he went on to become Brisbane would have paid that twice over with hindsight

FWIW outside of wallsy going all schwabby on us I’m not really fazed what kozzie cost us , he’s a player his type we desperately need(more than any other position imo) and in perfect age bracket.

I dont really give a **** for draft picks anymore , especially where they ll likely end up (tho given the way the teams going this years could be high again ffs)

I want this club to win , win big and WIN NOW.

Re Kozzy (or any other highly-rated trade) the what-we-lose for what-we-gain equation is never easily solved. Too many what ifs over time periods.

But along with his talent -and last night he was just a bit rusty in a not-quite team - I want Koz for non-rational emotional reasons. I just feel a bit prouder when I see those Indigenous boys run onto the field for us.

Did anyone see Petracca after the game last night? That is definitely one bloke who is hating footy at the moment & wanting to finish his career with purpose rather than wasting it at that rabble. No doubt regretting he didn’t pull the trigger & walk out this year.
With Pickett in our sights he’s not an option for us, but he’s going to top up someone’s team next year.

I said a few days ago I said I wasn’t interested in Petracca.

After watching last night it’s now a

oh no lol GIF by iOne Digital

Bloke has lost pace and is now average. If he can’t get separation his disposal is even worse than it normally is.
His path isn’t Pendlebury, it’s more Fyfe. He’s going to decline fast.

I’m sure that’s part of his frustration.

I wouldn’t be writing him off yet as I doubt he’s anywhere near full fitness mentally or physically.
