Yes it's a damning article. It's shocking and sad.

But everyone is hanging the Hawthorn blokes and taking everything in the article as fact. What happened to two sides to every story? Innocent until proven guilty? Have we not learnt anything from our saga?
Considering this is Hawthorn's side of the story yeah it's pretty clear cut.

And obviously you didn't learn anything.

Hard to believe they had a meeting and actually decided to advise this anyway? Is this what is being said happened?

It's stupid enough if just one if them did it but for several to agree on this course of action is a debacle.

The extent of Rioli’s anger at the club is now making a lot more sense.

Jed Anderson at North is interesting too, maybe him not being at the club next year is not necessarily the club’s call?

Now is not the time for point scoring. The hurt and pain so many First Nations people are feeling right now must be the focus. There are no winners here. None.
I'm one for wanting to find a joke or humour in difficult situations. It's often my coping mechanism.

There is not a single thing in this situation that warrants anything but a sombre recognition of how far away we are as a society from where we need to be in general, but especially when it comes to the treatment of First People.

They need to be heard, understood and respected in this story and in many others.

I'm not going to judge how others choose to handle the news, but I cannot feel anything but sincere distress for those involved.

Exactly, this isn't a Hawthorn problem, its an entire society problem. This isn't only in the past, its happening today, and it'll happen tomorrow.

I can't really understand how people can feel sorry for North, its an absolute disgrace what happened to those players and they deserve the whole societys support. However they don't even feel like they can come out publicly because of what might happen to them.

For every Héritier Lumumba or Adam Goodes there's thousands people that don't feel supported or safe enough to call out the racism.

I think one can acknowledge that if North have employed Clarkson with no idea of this then they’re now in a very tough spot; they’d have been blindsided.

But in comparison to the plight of those individuals who have been wronged, it’s nothing.

Yeah I can acknowledge it, but its a very distant secondary. I'm sure even inside the walls at North its secondary. I'm sure all footy clubs are currently checking in with all their indigenous players and staff making sure they are okay.

I would put money on the Clarkson role being front and centre of all discussions at North atm, IMO.

What are you basing this on?

As I read the SEN story it refers to multiple players.

Whatever Duster has quoted above refers to a single person.

If a player comes to work, emotional, looking exhausted, performing below standard, and talks about problems with his partner when asked about it, is suggesting he turns his phone off for a period that big a deal?
It's the same pattern of behaviour reported from multiple sources. Stacks up on the surface.

listening to Gil it would have been nice to afford the same non disclosure of information until the investigation is over when the Saga occurred, but in this case 100% agree. I do not think the players affected should ever be disclosed unless they choose to do so.
Its a terrible and disgusting, saddening and anger inducing thing that has happened and should never happen again. You cant even begin to imagine how this will/has psychologically scarred these players, wives/partners and families for life. I hope they can all heal from it.

I'm genuinely shocked that this sort of stuff still happens in this day and age.

That's what I'm struggling with, I know some people will say they aren't surprised.
I pity those people who have been exposed to stuff that has meant this isn't shocking.

I'm actually struggling to comprehend how something like this could happen.
Especially with how well regarded the individuals involved appear to be.

No, there’s a very different feeling towards the club involved and its supporters than there was with our saga.

I think ours was more shocking as there'd simply never been a story quite so big at the time. IMO this is worse because it's not 'just' about sports performance, but reaching deeply in to people's personal lives, particularly vulnerable young people's personal lives. That goes well beyond the level of Dank et al jabbing players with some substances that might or might not have been performance enhancing.

They'll release the findings, just not the report itself as it contains a lot of de-identified information given under the condition of anonymity. Which I think is reasonable.

I read as they were hoping it ie ehat occurred wouldn’t become public at all. Could be wrong.
