The "it was an obvious choice" crew are a little quiet
They’ll still probably finish well ahead of the Blues.

But gee whiz. Suicide notes during Round 3, you wouldn’t believe it.

Port will choke their way to a narrower than expected win in the second half imo. Just like their SA brethren on Thursday

Finally... Somebody did the obvious against the Hawks and asked some serious questions of them.

All they do is push their half forwards to the wings to create overlaps and then run back with the ball. For reasons unknown, opposition coaches have allowed them to run around unmarked for the past year, just watching as they disrupt zones and cause havoc on the turnover.

Tonight, not only are those seagulls being manned, they are being confronted with players who are at home higher up the ground and can win their own ball. Completely unaccountable on defence, those Hawthorn flankers are allowing their Port counterparts time and space in the midfield to set up and dictate play.

At the same time, Hawthorn's small defenders are all trying to get out and counterattack - and are getting exposed every single time the ball is able to be moved quickly.

It will be interesting to see how S.Mitchell now responds, and what (if any) Plan B is for the Hawks.
