Does Kobe Lecras come in pre tassie draft?

If so then we could have 24 elite key forwards and I'll still select a lecras.

If Kobe has Mark Lecras footy IQ then at worst he is on Jake Waterman level. I'm going in early but we must get him even if it doesn't suit our list composition. Can't turn down a natural lecras. Yes I'd use a top 5 pick on him if he's project a top 5 fwd.

He is looking like a high footy iq footballer be hyped fellas
Brent LeCras was a solid footballer himself. Sure the kid can play growing up in that family.

I dont think the crows are finishing low enough for that to be worth it, but if the crows had a top 8 pick so we could get both Curtins its worth considering
Of course I wouldn't do the deal unless we were certain we could get Cody. We could try get an extra pick from them or do a future swap. Then Adelaide First and Hawks First to Gold Coast for their lowest pick and change. But so far out who knows where anyone is finishing.

Now that we have 6 games into the season and the ladder starts to take shape, I am planning to update each week our picks and scenarios.

Why? A reminder of where we are at come the draft and a view as to what it might be as the season progresses.

As it stands at R6, our draft hand has us with :-
Picks 1, 12, 19, 30, 48, 73

Scenario 1 - Oscar leaves netting us Band 1
Picks 1, 2, 13, 20, 31, 49, 74

Scenario 2 - Oscar leaves and Harley is traded to Richmond starting with their own and Norf R1 plus a future pick (no need to debate what) and I have pushed all current picks back due to Oscar going
Picks 1, 2, 4, 5, 13, 20, 31, 49, 74

Scenario 3 - Oscar leaves and Harley is traded to Essendon starting with their own and Dees R1 plus a future pick (no need to debate what)
Picks 1, 2, 3, 9, 13, 20, 31, 49, 74

The final scenario is getting priority picks. The AFL wake up and implement Cal Twomey's proposal for bottom 4 finishing teams to get picks 11, 12, 13, 14. The AFL accept the draft is compromised (and not just complex) so put workable mechanisms in place that are consistent year to year and allow bottom finishing to rebuild faster.

Scenario 4 - Oscar to FA and Harley to Rich plus priority pick
Picks 1, 2, 4, 5, 12, 17, 24, 35, 53, 78

Rider:
1. I am in the camp of letting Oscar go for pick 2 and believe we have enough KPF's to cover his loss.
2. I want Harley to stay BUT If he does not want to extend, we allow him to go to Victoria to a club of our liking this year with picks that will satisfy us. Tigers with 2 top 5 picks is a great start yet I would still ask for more. Dons with 2 top 10 picks is a start and I would definitely want a lot more. Not planning on stipulating what more in each scenario is as that misses the point of this post.
3. I am expecting The Chad to stay at Sydney. I would be really keen on him as a RFA in 2 years time but feel we need to continue to hit the draft and the asking price will be too steep. Similar with Kasiah Pickett.

Info:
We can feel aggrieved in the compromised draft system and the outcome is that it is taking too long to get access to top talent and rebuild. In 2023 (the year we came bottom), our natural draft picks should have been 1 and 19 but ended up as 1 and 30 plus we lost access to Collard. Similar in 2024 when we came 16th, our natural picks should have been 3 and 20 and ended up as 3 and 30. Twomey is predicting the first round in 2025 going well past 30 meaning our R1 is likely to me mid 30's. Listen Aunty Laura, take the facts as the facts and commit to reform this year.

Oh and yes, there will be more FA picks, not many in the top 10. TDK is the one that will be band 1 is he goes.
And all picks from about 5 onwards are likely to be pushed back with the club tied draft cohort and there are loads of it.

thanks for your work, great content

Don’t kill me with this, but If we do end up with pick 2 for Oscar, is this a draft we could split pick 2?
Not saying we should definitely do it. However if we held both pick one and two it could be an opportunity to split one of them. It looks like one of the stronger WA groups in recent times and having 4+ first round picks could be a good outcome.

Eli Wirrpanda/2028
Oscar Judd/2029
Bobby Cousins/2029
Lux Embley/2029
Finally getting a group of good father sons in just as Tassie rip the draft apart would be something special. Would lead to the afl changing father son rules or something as a result though…

Sam Swadling has had a strong start to his top age season and continued it with an excellent performance here. The one thing we wanted to see from Swadling this year was an improvement in his composure and decision making with the ball, and while he still had some rush of blood moments here the improvement over all is significant. The rest of the package has always been exciting with his size, agility and nose for the footy every bit as good as it's always been.

Anybody know how old Eli Wirrapanda is? He has a youtube channel where he has posted a decent highlights package of his old man.

Would be so good having another Wirrpanda running around.

Eli is 14 maybe 15 now.

Stands out at club level but in EPs development program he's a fair way off the top kids.

He's got a different body to his dad. Thinner frame, not much meat on the bone

Sam Grlj stats from the Vic U18s trial match:

27 Disposals
15 Kicks
12 Handballs
89% DE
6 Marks
6 tackles
9 Contested Possessions
2 Clearances
9 Score Involvements

Looking around the mark of Hawks pick if we keep it.
Cal Twomey’s comparison to Max Holmes seems apt. Looks to be a player with high hurt factor.

He’s a superb player. Was hoping he’d go under the radar a bit more than what he has to start the season because his traits are exactly what we’d be after to draft but he’ll be on every club’s top 20 board now.

Is hard at the contest, has Holmes speed, LDU like side step and unlike many recent draftees his disposal at pace is impressive. That’s literally the prototype midfielder suited to how we want to play footy.

Another strong performance from Grlj who's rapidly risen to contend for a spot in the top 10 of draft lists. Its easy to see Grlj's dancing feet and bursts of pace and think what he might be capable of in a couple of years with more maturity in his game and body.

Jaidi Jackson-Leahy had similar stats (probably more total clearances) and finished with two goals to boot. One to watch as he'll likely get selected for the Country team on the back of his ultra impressive trial game.

So, are we now saying that Grij, Whan, and Jackson-Leahy could challenge Freddy and Sharp for Picks 1 and 2?

Or these players just being flagged for R1, particularly this Whan kid attached for Freo's NGA.

Considering Freo has kept ****ing us for the last couple of seasons during trade period, I would love to bid on him at Pick 1 to stress them out a little (If he is worth it.....)

Problem is we have a heap of NGA’s they’d most likely return the favour for if we did it just to **** them.

Apparently David Shanahan has been selected in the WA under 18s squad as an underager. He’s 16 at the moment. He’s already 194cm and 82kgs and plays KPD I believe. Apparently he’s an Eagles NGA for next year. He appears to be of African heritage.
Correct on all of this.
He looks a real prospect and has some really exciting athletic attributes for a KDEF player.
Been playing SD colts already.

8 in total from our NGA and FS from my count but others have a better ide. Took from a list posted in WA colts forum.
2025
Tylah Williams
Wes Walley
Koby Evans
Charlie Banfield

2026
Lachlan McGlade
Robbie Farmer
Garrison Kenh
David Shanahan

It appears the following missed out Jake Caton, Darcy Montgomery, Noah Braun and Harper Banfield (I saw another photo of him on Insta in action, he looks like he will be ready made for 2027 season)

If we formed a Colts side this year in the WAFL from our NGA and FS it would be a decent team. If we get full access to these blokes, maybe we push for it like the Northern AFL sides. Might solve the WAFL issue too.

I would love to see WC just bid on all the top NGAs one after the other just to make a point of how ridiculously compromised the draft is...

Our pick 1 ends up being pick 7 or something stupid
Was just thinking this - but preferably using pick 2 (Oscar compo).

Give our kid the number 1 mantle

First game back from a delayed start to season 2025, Luke Hallett was clearly lacking match fitness and will have games where he finds more of the footy. Having said that, he was still extremely impressive showing moments of elite quality and AFL level traits that will have recruiters salivating over his potential. He has a powerful frame which allows him to absorb contact and maintain body control to dish off a disposal or lay a punishing tackle of his own. His kicking skills are sublime, seemingly able to clear 60 meters without needing to overly exert himself and accurately spot up teammates at short and medium range. Like many of the best players Hallett seems to play with a confidence bordering on arrogance.

🚨Santa Maria🚨 at the 2:42 minute mark when he kicks the long goal.
