Warner's strike rate has dropped down to 75 runs per 100 balls. This will give the Perth crowd the chance to start booing him now.

PAK have bowled much better after lunch.
I never lived in WA.
But for most of you there should they be playing these tests at the WACA.
Just seems to me Optus hasnt quite got the test match buzz or feel that the WACA had. Is it too big a stadium to be playing Test Cricket.
And Is the appetite to watch Test Cricket still there in Perth.
In Sydney we love dressing up for Pink Test and its become a yearly thing now even with it pissing down rain most years which always seems to happen during the Sydney Test before or after it rarely rains.
What does CA and that need to do to make it more appealing for the Cricket at Optus.

That's fair point as well. I do agree that in Sydney we are lucky they time the test match and most people are still on New Years Break.
Do you feel though the WACA should have always remain the home of cricket for WA and Optus left for the AFL. I suppose the government forked out a shitload the stadium needs to be used.
But for me on the tele just seems Optus is soulless and its like watching crowds in India when they are empty compared to the WACA days where the Hill was always full.
Flat track Davey scoring a century in this test doesn’t mean anything Mitch said in his article wasn’t true.
Pakistan are rubbish here(actually in general these days).

If the bloke was treated without bias he wouldn’t even been in this test match and the team could of moved on with picking players who will lead Australia for the next 5-8 years against 2 mediocre sides this summer .
Tho with George Bailey selecting that probably still wouldn’t have happened.

Really dont care - Mitch is as irrelevant and unpopular as Michael Clarke is in the cricket fraternity.
Seems to be a Neil Harvey bitter like merkin & jealous he was wedged in between 2 great era's of Australian Cricket.
He missed out on the Golden generation between 99-07 & now with Patty Cummins taking over winning a WTC, WC in India and retaining 2 x Ashes series in the UK.
Yeah the conspiracy theory in me has me think a deal has been done Davey gets his farewell tour and in return he wont throw anyone else under the bus for Sandpaper gate.
CA don't want anymore fallout from that debacle on who else knew. And dropping Warner now opens up more potential bitterness between him and the game.
I think deep down we all know it was more then just the 3 of them and players were aware we were trying to rough the ball up for reverse swing. Maybe not take sandpaper out onto the ground but certainly it would have been a team mentality to push the limits with the ball to get reverse swing.
But is it really worth it now 5/6 years on to drag people through the mud again on who knew.
The replacements in Marcus Harris, Bancroft have failed previously so is it worth opening can of worms for them.
If Will Pucovski was fit however i think there would be more demand for change already. But thats complicated as Will just cant seem to get a decent run at Shield atm and hit form.

Optus should only be for England and India. The crowd was actually ok for a Thursday when most kids are still in school (they aren’t today) and if you put the 17k they had yesterday at the WACA then the feel of the crowd is a lot better.
I haven’t checked but I believe they are still redeveloping parts of the WACA and I hope they move future tests not with the big three back there
The test matches in Perth are often against lower ranked nations, West Indies recently comes to mind. Regardless of the venue people prefer to watch a contest between good sides rather than one sided matches.

Cricket Australia wouldn’t give a ** about the other players. They’d only give a ** about the damage to their own reputation and what that’d do their ability to make ****tonnes of money.
It’s the only reason the three guys got such lengthy bans in the first place imo. TV deals and sponsorship deals were expiring and Cricket Australia were worried about these deals getting reduced and/or not offered at all. There’s plenty of other sports that could get that money - the only Australian team that’s been caught cheating isn’t a great look.
Having said that ball tampering was MASSIVE in the game at the time. We were pretty much the last team that got caught doing it. I don’t think that mattered to the Australian public though.
The standard bans for players involved in ball tampering was 1-2 games. Warner and Smith probably missed 20+ games for Australia (tests, ODIs, T20s) and lost millions of dollars from cancelled T20 contracts as a result of what was previously a 1 or 2 game offence.
Not denying Sandpapergate was one of the worst ball tampering incidents, if not the worst, but my opinion is that there was zero precedent to ban the three players for so long. The length the ban has cost the players millions and has probably also contributed to damaging the reputation of the players more than what was going to happen otherwise.
Piss off Warner and he might try sue Cricket Australia for millions.

Not sure how many racing enthusiasts we have here, but WA's finest D Oliver is retiring today - tune in at 530pm for his final race. I'm sure the occasional watcher will know him mostly for winning the Melbourne Cup on Media Puzzle only a few days after his brother Jason died, but for me his ride on Mannerism to win the Caulfield Cup is still one of the best things I have ever seen on a racetrack, was thirty years ago but I remember it like yesterday. Great great jockey.
Most cricket playing nations have a history of tampering with the ball. The problem was that the punishment if you were caught was minimal.
Tampering with the ball escalated from rubbing saliva onto the ball and then adding mints to the saliva and so on. Bottle tops, zippers and boot studs have all been used by various teams and players over the years. And these are only examples of the ball tampering that have been caught.
Australian efforts in South Africa with sandpaper were off the chart however and brought the whole thing into focus for the better of the game. There is no way the Australian bowlers didn't realise the ball was getting roughed up for their benefit.
Reverse swing has gone the way of the Dodo since sandpaper gate so draw your own conclusions as to how widespread the ball tampering has been by all sides prior to that point.
My personal view is that the use of some lollies (not all) on the ball is equally as premeditated than sandpaper and I very much doubt all those instances were isolated to the 1-3 players that were caught - you’d be dumb to suggest whole teams didn’t know on occasions imo. It doesn’t look as bad but outside of that there’s little difference outside of what side of the ball is being tampered.
FWIW I’d have no issues if Warner, Smith and Bancroft were banned for five test matches. It would’ve set a message in the cricket community that ball tampering isn’t on.
Twelve months was nothing but Cricket Australia trying to protect their own image and get TV deals and sponsors for the next few years and allow their executives to leave with bigger bonuses.
Hope Warner doesn’t sue Cricket Australia as it’d damage the game in Australia. Kind of hope he goes after the ****wits that were in charge of Cricket Australia at the time tbh.

Not gonna lie, this description cracked me up.
The irony is the only time it generally rains here in Sydney during December/January is the 5 days the friggin test match is on.
The other 57 days of summer in that period we barely get much rain at all. But when the cricket's on it rains.
February we have more arvo thunderstorms at backend of summer
Oh yeah and how’d he go in the second innings whately?
