Pre-order placed. The first party games get me every time so happy to bite the bullet day one. There looks to be some nice improvements to the console.

The console price seems fair enough but those game prices will hurt if they stay there for a full generation and they continue to not ever heavily discount them

I preordered and I kind of hate myself for it (granted I've only done the $50 deposit so far not the full payout).

I hate a lot of how Nintendo goes about things consumer wise and the latest prices etc won't help with that yet I just know I'm gonna throw money at them anyway.

Posted this in the original Switch thread, but thought I’d ask here as well.

For anyone who pre ordered online, did you pay the full amount or a deposit?

I’m looking at preordering the Mario Kart World bundle with a pro controller.

Thanks.

And this is why they keep doing it. 😂

You recognise it's a problem but buy it anyway. Why would they change?

I think the unique Gamechat feature is going to be a major game changer for gaming going fowards.

Also Super Mario World is absolutely going to be amazing, so many different locations and settings.

Imagine if it was possible to go around driving with Mario or Peach in the slums of Frankston (for example)

Developers clearly are excited to work with the Switch 2 and how those versions of their games will differ from those released on Xbox, PS5 etc

Great, so my kart will get graffitied and lose its wheels by the time I escape Frankston...

Yep, I know, I'm part of the problem. I'll be having a good think about it before dropping any real amount of money. I am kind of tempted to at least get the first gen Switch 2 in the hopes it gets jail broken though, for reasons.

Playing Mariokart online with friends (the best way to play it) and now with able to sed their faces on it is going to be amazing.

Just think if we played it with GC I could happily give you the bird Harley Reid style, after I skittle you with a blue shell !

The trolling possibilities are endless !

Id have to rewatch the presentation but it sounded like it was only backwash compatible with certain games
Nah it's basically all of them, though it looks like some will need patches. Other than that a few aren't compatible with the new joycons (stuff like one of the Wariowares, ring fit and labo), but that's it.

The full list is here

A few games have specific performance updates that you have to pay for (like the Zelda's, though both of those - and only those - are offered free with the Switch Online pack), and then some have complete DLC style updates (like Mario Party and Kirby shown in the Direct)

The download speed and transfer of data between consoles is going to be a lot better/quicker on Switch 2 apparently, as well as fixing up technical issues on flawed switch 1 games like Pokemon Violet/Scarlett which is good

Nintendolife have listened to their fans and rectifying the performance issues plagued with Switch

They are also going to keep supporting and publish games on the original Switch.

I feel like a lot of criticism of The Switch 2, whilst understandable, is unfair.

Time will tell, it always does

American gamers losing their minds that they have to pay $90 for Switch 2 games lmao

What about us poor Australians who have to pay over $100 for video games. These Americans can suck a fat one about time they are getting charged an arm and a leg for games.

$90USD is ~$145AUD, they have every right to lose their minds...

It sucks paying for more what they need to understand is games are getting more expensive to make and take more time/years to develop so only natural for game studios wanting us to pay more for their games it's just how the industry is unfortunately.
