News New Suns logo and guernsey leaked

Going to go against the grain here...
The new GC jumper is growing on me.
Of course it helps that they are winning games of football in it.
At first glance of course its uninspiring. But the logo and stripes are legible on the close ups on TV, there is kind of a pseudo-depth of field going on there- it becomes more obvious when the players are zoomed in on and highlighted (which only happens when theyre playing well!).
Yet those elements don't pop.
What does pop are the numbers, they look ON imo. Although a bit smaller and cramped by the sponsors its a nice pop of contrast.
I dont disagree with the critiques and backlash on the jumper but idk, Im liking it so far.
Does anyone else think the same?

I see what you mean. I think the general consensus would just appreciate the logo on the front in yellow, the number look a little out of place to me being the only major non-red thing

I think you're right in that a club could go out wearing anything and as long as they're successful, people will probably like it. But no, my attitude hasn't really changed at all. They would have looked much better with something like, I don't know, Subiaco's design with the Suns logo and colours. Something kind of traditional, kind of modern.

Yeah it’s definitely grown on me as well. I still would tweak it slightly to make it a little easier to see, but the red on red design has never been as offensive to me as perhaps others.
I think the gradient from dark to light needs to be far greater, and the logo needs be larger for this concept to work.

Disagree. In theory yes, but people would've scolded them for not being ambitious enough and keeping it too close to their old design.
Could someone try whipping up a version of it, with a yellow gradient underneath the logo? that way the 'sun' of in the logo would be yellow, like a sun, rather than the logo being yellow, and the negative space being red.
The gradient would fit in with their synth wave concept too.

All red is actually strong as. No logo. It's actually great I'm into it. The logo integrates really well with digital platforms, score bugs etc. I like that it's either monotone red or gold depending on the background it's against. No stroke or anything.

Totally. The lack of any white trim, no random flourishes of gold anywhere (side panels, that weird back tab they used to have). It's strong.

Has an element of Norwood about it. Also could be recency bias, but when I think ‘red team’ I think Gold Coast over Sydney.

Still needs any personality- it being all red an illegible isn't great. Maybe a vertical stripe on the left side or something? Anything at all would be good.

Wouldn't say I like it but it is definitely an upgrade on their previous branding.
Their clash should just be a sky blue version though.

April fools FJGD edition. Ironically no worse than their current design - actually wouldn't mind this with red logo and waves
This with a red G and a collar and sleeves would be excellent.

I'm really getting a vibe that with everything the Suns have done this year that they're essentially "tanking" their identity this year so when they make marginal improvements next year they seem like wins. I'm sure that's not what's happening but it feels like it.
GC's 2011-2024 Guernsey straight into a red based Guernsey with the new logo in gold would seem a marginal update, but after the Guernsey they produced this year, that exact same Guernsey (with the logo in gold) seems miles better.
A "joke" yellow kit is received well enough this year that they can launch it properly next year and people will eat it up after seeing the clash this year.
