Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 3) - The Biggest Loser

Is Matthew Nicks the right coach for Adelaide?

  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

  • Firmly no (he should be sacked)

Did anyone else chuckle at the shot of Davis running training? It's not doing much to convince me the club hasn't defacto sacked Nicks already.
Club does tend to hang onto people far too long when it's clear they shouldn't be employed.

Look Matthew, we are going to get you some more training so you come back in the new year refreshed.
Murray its your time, everyone has had enough of the water bottles.

Seriously? A fair few of the head coaches are off doing something while their 2IC's run the pre-season training. The club hasn't defacto sacked Nicks at all.

I'm convinced that the people who appointed Murray Davis did so in the full knowledge that he's the senior coach in waiting. I see it as a chess move. Make it look like they want to support Nicks, wait for his position to become untenable, and in Davis goes.

I want to believe that but I think the club genuinely thinks they can fix Nicks. They tried it before when they coughed up for Burgess.

Davis is plan B. He'll be interim coach if things go badly and that will serve as an audition for a full time role.

Again, a statement irrelevant to the discussion on Nicks ...so why raise 15 years as part of the Nicks discussion

I think most reasonable judges would have had us knocking on the door of the Finals in 2024 .....our recovery after Tippetgate was 5 years ....and the Crows have history in rebounding quickly

I've given my reasons for 2024 ....a factor supports by many in the industry ....however there's no excuse in 2025

We have improved the depth with experienced players .....the young players have another 15-20 games under their belt, and are now getting to that 50-70 games

Our recovery after Tippetgate was 5 years. Really?

Tippetgate was at the end of 2012, we played finals in 2015, only 3 seasons later.

Nicks has been given everything to be successful this year and success this year is playing finals. If he fails to play finals, he has to be sacked, no ifs, no buts.

So has WW named these posters who are downhill skiers and have changed their mind on Nicks? Or did he just make that shit up again?

Interesting listening to Dawson on 5AA when talking about Davis, was raving about him “no ego” hmm interesting comment, I wonder if the thinks our head coach has an ego……

Next Rowey asked him what feedback he gave Nicks “rather keep that in-house”

On Nicks going to Harvard “great he’s trying to improve himself”

There was no glowing endorsement of Nicks.

Interesting comments from the club captain.

Dawson is just probably grateful that the Swans didn’t win the flag.

We all start in the same position in 2025.

Ol mate .....you shouldn't argue unless you have your facts at the ready

We finished 2nd in 2012 ....11th 2013, 10th 2014 ......we didn't bottom out as we have this time, and the basis of a good side was in place ....albeit we copped the Tippett sanctions

So your points are irrelevant

We are only coming out of the Tiprat debacle now imo.

We only had to jag one player from all the draft picks we lost and they would be finishing their career right about now.

It was a monumental **** up at the time that changed the course of our club!

Bit of an overreaction
