:) They earned the win, no doubt.
Come to think of it, I seem to remember all their goals yet can't remember ours.

I just keep getting the vision of their goals just floating over the top of the pack in the goal square and ours just being touched on the line.
Oh well.

The only goals i can remember are the first 3 and last 3...we had our chances with the kicking at goal, sad ending indeed. As stated on twitter, the umpiring and walker held in the dying seconds will be a discussion for a while. What excuse is Jeff Gieschen gonna make this time?

Why would an uncontracted coach who needed to make the finals pick a player who didn't deserve promotion?

Carrazzo is one of our whipping boys, but he was smashed tonight.

Davies is a second year player and not one of our leaders.

Wasn't disgraced like everyone makes out.

Murphy's kicking for goal was as costly as any of the errors our players made.
sorry but he was just bad

Less than a kick away is not good enough...If Fev was there we would have won....

LOL.

If Fev had of played we would of lost by 40 points. Why?

Because in the last quarter we would of kicked to him 10 times inside 50, with three Weagles defenders playing on him and shutting him down. Meanwhile free forwards would of gone ignored. Fev would of kicked nothing and we would of been killed.

Just like the bad old days.

This game was as rigged as any game in AFL history.

Proof?

Two weeks before the finals began Ray Chamberlain and Brett Rosebury were advised that neither would be selected for the AFL Finals this year.

Here is one of the articles: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/life-on-razors-edge-20110722-1hsqt.html

There are several others that verify this. Channel 7 (may have been 10, but I believe it was 7 at half time of their first AFL final last week) had a story about the umpires and in particular Chamberlain and Rosebury. Ask the Swans fans, they'll tell you.

In an abrupt turn of events, beginning with neither being involved in the finals, both umpires are somehow selected to umpire the same match. Out of the forty plus possible umpires the AFL select two who they had advised only weeks before that they wouldn't be involved in the finals series. So not only were they not considered among the top 16 umpires a month ago but now they're considered among the top eight (top six if you don't count the two emergencies). That's a pretty indictable rise.

The Tim Donaghy effect is well and truly alive in the AFL.

There is no doubt umpiring is a difficult job, but I think the rules committee need to minimise the damage trigger happy umpires like Chamberlain and Rosebury inflict in a game

eg

1) get rid of the 50 metre penalty. West Coast got 3 of them on the weekend and all them assisted them in scoring. Chamberlain would probably pay more 50s than any other umpire by a fair margin. One was for Kerr falling to the ground... Chamberlain seems to have a thing for paying free kicks for people who fall to the ground dramatically.
Others see it as acting.

If someone has the stats I would welcome the result..maybe it is just perception, but 50 metre such as in the fremantle vs sydney match that decided that result as well. Kenneally thought the free kick was for him, played on and then found out it wasn't for him and Findlay? gave a 50 against him. It is too big a penalty for an honest mistake. Make it 30 metres or go back to the 15 metre penalty. It isn't working.

Another 80 metre free kick and free shot at goal was given against Grundy in this match (Swans -Freo) for a jumper pull. Grundy had grabbed his jumper Ballanythne ACTED and got a free kick in front of goal. Chamberlain falls for the acting free kicks over and over again...and anyone who says it doesn't have an impact on the result of matches needs their head read.

2) free kicks to forwards- how many did West Coast get from dodgy decisions. The one against their fullforward for a genuine contest but was considered "in the back" by Jamison. both players were falling to the ground due to forward momentum, but they pluck out another goal from a free kick for the Eagles. A clear review of what is a "in the back" needs to be looked at.

3) get rid of the free extra goal for jumper pushing. Just because one person elects to fall to the ground doesn't warrant 6 points.

There are solutions...just act on it instead of hiding their head in the sand and saying everything is going swimmingly.

Still angry about the result by the way...just hope they can do something positive about it for the future years.

I would like to just mention something that I did notice from the game... some of our kicking... or more to the point one persons kicking.

Robbie Warnock launching ****ing lightning bolts from the centre and trying to punch the ribs out of our forwards. ****ing 70m killer kicks that hit our forwards on bang on the sternum. Awesome to see and his work at ground level has really picked up as well.

He can launch a footy a huge distance Robbie.

Seriously roosts it, and pretty accurate as well.
