It is Doubtful that he will be out the door, atleast not for a couple of years. He has just signed a two year deal with the Cats.

Tom Lonergan signs two-year deal to stick with Cats

GEELONG has all but settled its playing list heading into next month's national draft, with forward Tom Lonergan agreeing to a new contract.

The 24-year-old has agreed in principle to a two-year deal.

Lonergan had initially rejected the club's offer, with the prospect of more money being made available in the Cats' tight salary cap during the trade period, but his manager Anthony McConville yesterday would not comment specifically on the offer.

"Tom's extremely happy that the club have offered him a two-year contract extension, and he's now looking forward to the next two years at the Geelong Football Club," McConville said.

Geelong football manager Neil Balme said there was never any doubt Lonergan would re-sign with the club.

Young ruckman Shane Mumford has agreed to remain on the club's rookie list next season, after the club decided not to promote him and keep its four picks for the draft.

Mumford, who played three senior games this season when Matthew Egan was put onto the long-term injury list, could have elected to nominate for the draft and try for a spot on the primary list at another club.

"A number of clubs had shown interest in Shane, but he understands that Geelong has given him the opportunity to play there this season and has taken him out of Bunyip, so the way he could repay that faith was (by agreeing to) an extension," McConville said.

A new rule next year will allow clubs to play one of its rookies after round 11, without having to place a player on the long-term injury list, which McConville said was a factor.

"That's been assured to Shane and he's happy with that," McConville said.

Meanwhile, former Geelong player Charlie Gardiner was yesterday delisted by St Kilda, one year after being traded from the Cats.

The Saints also cut Shane Birss, Matthew Ferguson, Jayden Attard and Michael Rix, along with rookies Glenn Chivers and Luke Van Rheenan, joining the retired Robert Harvey and Fraser Gehrig to leave the club.
