Is pick 12ish + a bottom 4 teams f1 pick not a substantial offer?
You are delusional if you think its not

It might not happen that way, but its far from a bad offer
No way

Pick #12 will become #15 and as you seen with Norths future picks its worth 10 cents in a dollar

Your 2025 1st rounder is the starting point of any negotiations
I'll take any bet

I heard it’ll be closer to 10

With that in mind I wonder how much Harley will leave on the table in signing on for WC?

Could be at least 15
You mean if he doesn’t sign for Eagles?. Would be nothing as I’d suggest everyone offers him the same amount. With Brayshaw it’s just what Freo can afford vs what St Kilda can. St Kilda can blow you out of the water. To me it unlocks this trade. 2 firsts for Pickett will do it.

Picketers worth is same as Bolton

The big question is if Melbourne perform in 2025 or if you slide further and the wheels fall off. I assume you will have a new coach if it is the later and it will probably be a good opportunity to cash in on any players who don’t want to be there.

Bolton deal is close in value but Freo can only trade what they have and 2 first rounders is fair for a small forward, even though he is a top shelf one. Maybe a fringe player in a position of need for the Dee’s as steak knives depending also how Freo go and how our team looks.

We’re not forcing anybody out who wants to stay though.
Charlie Cameron cost pick 12. He was 24 when he joined us.

I feel that's a comparable player and trade value.

Unless Darcy has a ripper year and can prove he can stay on the park no club is paying a top 10 pick for an over priced ruck who seems to be in rehab for half a season every year.
Darcy is more likely to attract a Brodie Grundy type trade. Goes for an early second round pick and Freo pay some of his salary.

You obviously have no idea on the Eagles list make up.

Small to medium forwards is not an area they need to spend draft capital on. They also have several mid / forwards developing who will start and rotate forward.

There are also two very promising NGA kids coming up next year.

Liam Ryan
Dewar improving just short of a breakout year in 24
Brockman
Long
Champion
Owies replaces the retiring Cripps.
Hamis Davies a high half forward.
Hutchings a high half forward.
Hewett mid / fwd
Reid will rest forward to shake tags

2025 Wes Walley (yes his real name) nga kid who looks very good.

Add a Warner another mid / fwd in a trade.

Kelly should play the similar role he did at Geelong HFF / mid.

And one forward position is often used to develop young mids.

So no. Owies has little to do with it. Its the 10 other players who can play the role and the NGA kids being targeted in 2025 and 2026.
Not including Hewett and Reid in the following post, as they are genuine mids.

Apart from Ryan and Owies, the rest of those players are potential players only. None have proved themselves. Ryan certainly looks on the downside of his career, and the knock on Owies is his lack of speed and defensive game.

West Coast should definitely be interested if Pickett wants to head to WA.

Getting Warner and Pickett would go a long way in helping you up the ladder sooner.

Gone are the days where first rounders are actually guarantee top 18 picks.

To be fair if our wheels fall off, I wouldn’t be against us doing a Richmond fire sale of Trac/Pickett/Oliver and Petty and hit the draft with 8-10 first rounders.
If the wheels fall off, you're not getting that many first rounders because;

Petracca's body or mind is letting him down, and he's not the player he was pre injury.

Oliver has fallen off the wagon, and any team taking on his contract is taking a big risk, and he's being sold for cents on the dollar.

Pickett as good as he is, is a defensive small forward, with questionable midfield performances. He's worth a mid first round pick.

Petty is well, Petty. He's a decent player, but again, he's not worth multiple first round picks.

Melbourne is not trading pickett for a mid first rounder so your point is what?

What's your value of Pickett?

Rankine value or Cameron value?

For starters it's not about value it's about leverage.
Melbourne have it because he's contracted until 2027 and even if he goes then as an RFA the compo pick will be equal or better to than a mid r1.
So if they traded him for a mid first now their supporters would riot and it's no chance of happening.
They will want 2 good first rounders minimum for him or he won't be traded.

If you're asking me his actual value without the contract (which is a different issue) I think he's worth a top 10 pick plus a 2nd rounder somewhere but as I said Melbourne wouldn't do it for that.
