I am not surprised.

Ross Lyons record too a hit when Freo didn't make finals from 2016-19.

Ken Hinkleys worst season as a Port Coach got him at least 10 wins.

And yet Ross has been hired 3 times.

Reckon anyone is hiring old Ken once he's finally eradicated from Alberton?

Yep.

Hell I would have him as coach next season if Justin Longmuir doesn't get the dockers to finals in 2025.

Port fans hatred of Ken Hinkley is crazy.

Social media doesn't help Ken's cause either.

But none of his GF teams have kicked more than 10 goals. Is it any wonder they did not win?
Harsh but true.

Ross Lyon Saints in that 2009 grand final vs the cats kicked 9.14.68. Had they kicked 15.8.98 or 14.9.93, Saints won that grand final.

Ross Lyon dockers side in that 2013 grand final vs the hawks kicked 8.14.62. had the dockers kicked 14.8.92, dockers win the grand final.

It's a harsh assessment but fair.

A Ken Hinkley team making a grand final will be interesting

Kenny Hinkley IS Port Adelaide. Underrated and hated by the Port supporters who blame Ken when it rains and give others the credit when the sun shines.
I don't think Ken Hinkley will be sacked. Watch Port make finals again in 2025 and get a 2 year extension

Remember when Fremantle had a disastrous four win season in 2016?
If Hinkley was coach then Fremantle would have finished 9th 10th or 11th, rather than bottom 4.

Hinkley currently pulling Longmire's pants down on the big stage under lights.
Where are the Hinkley haters?
I am partially convinced Ken Hinkley will never get fired or quit.

I am partially convinced he will work at this Port Adelaide coaching job for life. He is either gonna die in his sleep or die on the coaching box falling off his seat or die sitting on the bench

Which would have made literally zero difference to Freo's fortunes aside from getting them a worse draft pick.

That is a lie. Ken Hinkley has got your mob to at least 4 preliminary finals in the last 12 years. Name other clubs that have done the same thing?

Port has made top 4 in 4 seasons from 2020 to 2024.

He has got your club to 6 finals wins. How many finals wins has gold coast have had in their history?

How many finals wins has Essendon have since 2005?

Absolutely.

In fact, I'd say he'd be in the first 3-4 calls the Tassie team will make.

Ken's a "Culture Guy" in that he very clearly gets buy in from all of his players (for better or worse) and they will bust arse for him.

The pro are that average players will perform above and beyond and those moments can help you win games in the balance.

The con is that those performances, while high in effort, can fail on execution and you end up with some GOPs getting far more games than they should.

The Saints had this with the likes of McQualter & Rob Eddy basically locked into that 09/10 team while David Armitage & Jack Steven played VFL.

Rekon this is Ken's last roll of the dice though. Unless he wins a flag, he won't be getting an extension beyond his current deal.

Josh Carr is only gonna wait so long before he starts taking interviews again.

Uhhhhh this hasn't been Port's experience. Maybe in 2013? Now we regularly completely fail to show up in big games.

Our culture has been entirely torpedoed under his leadership, although that is obviously Koch's fault more than anything. Nobody could argue that Port getting absolutely annihilated in every final they play speaks to a good culture where players will run through brick walls for their guernsey and coach.

We also absolutely have gold passes for low ceiling players though, Jed McEntee is the current one but we've had a bunch of them.
