People also saying Rankine may have missed... well to be honest, if the Mark was correctly paid then it should have bene 50. He would have been kicking from the goal square.

I agree with the premise of the thread though, we need to control what we can control and get selection right.
50 for what?

It's a bit of fun. The important point is that you shouldn't worry about what's outside our control. We're deliberately choosing a less than optimal 23, which just cost us the game. That's where your focus should be. Worry about umpiring errors only after we actually select a 23 that maximises our chances of winning.

It's a 'point', but it's a stretch to call it important or even worth making.

It certainly didn't need a new thread.

Getting pushed after the mark
Nah, it was close enough that you could argue he hadn’t even completed the mark yet.
100% a free 0% a 50
It was a tackle anyway not a push.

Focus on what you can control, fine. Doesn’t mean you have to silently accept getting shafted.

If you get shafted you are insane not to complain. Squeaky wheel might get some grease.

Anyway, if we all followed your advice, you’d have the likes of the Cats sooking about their woes, and everyone else having to suck it up no matter how bad they get shafted. You’ve got it pretty much backwards.

NOTHING WE CAN DO!

At least it wasn't a final. Time to suck it in and move on to next week!

If we want to be a good team, we need to perform our best when facing adversity. We have been a weak club in those situations for many years. We have to change and prove this to everyone on Thursday against Geelong.
THIS!!!

We’ve all had our rants, we’ve all railed against the unfairness of it all, we’ve cursed the AFL, the umpires, the black cat that crossed us and the Chinaman we killed.

Now, for the sake of everyone’s sanity, it’s time to let it go. Nothing WE say, write or do will change anything. I know it’s a stretch but it’s time to show some maturity and start acting like adults.

Tough ask, I know…

This is the advice you want the players to take, for sure.

But the club shouldn’t let this go.

I want the umpires running out on Thursday fearing for their lives to pay a free kick against Adelaide.

That’s the sort of f*cking groundswell I want.

Groundswell achieved. Now the fans need to let it go. The club has taken a stand but there’s no need for us to get high blood pressure over t anymore

He'd definitely completed the mark. The ball gets knocked out after when Collins wraps his arms around him and pushes him forward. Anyway semantics, cant change it now.

And this please explain will not change the outcome of our games. Same with other games, although sirengate 19 or so seasons ago was a different story.

That game vs Sydney in 2023 was handled poorly. The goal umpire made a mistake and the field umpires did not ask for a score review despite protests from the players. So who is to blame for that. What if it was a different team playing?

Nathan Toner, Matt Stevic, Leigh Haussen or Chris Donlon also umpired quite a few of these games interestingly enough.
