afl footy is unique because its one of those games where there are just as many poor player errors as umpiring decisions. While they dont help, its hard to argue one decision cost the game where a players idiotic decision didnt. I am surprised at the hate for milera but well.

Well i suspect there is a feedback portion to the game where clubs give critical feedback to the umpiring department and the club can ask for more clarification on an umpiring decision. But its effectively meaningless. Just have to put it under the swings and round abouts category.

Haven’t seen it again, but the afl have changed the rules around handballs, the hand holding the ball is also allowed to propel the ball, as long as the other hand makes contact with the ball it’s sweet now.

It's a bit of fun. The important point is that you shouldn't worry about what's outside our control. We're deliberately choosing a less than optimal 23, which just cost us the game. That's where your focus should be. Worry about umpiring errors only after we actually select a 23 that maximises our chances of winning.

Ok fair enough re it’s fun. I won’t be the party pooper after this post but do you truly believe Nicks, Davis and co sit there on Thursday night saying “we are deliberately choosing a less than optimal 23 which will likely cost us the game”?. Or they are choosing the best 23 in their eyes and you - many - disagree with some of their decisions? You can debate named players all you like (not that I am going to spend more time re this but i certainly agree Murph shouldn’t be in the team if you had read my last 20 messages on him).

The umpiring sucked big time yesterday like I have rarely seen for us. That’s an unambiguous fact. It’s negligent to not be making a scene out of this to gain leverage down the track in various ways

To be honest, the only thing the AFL needs to please explain is why they waste umpiring salaries on more than one field umpire. Oh, and please explain why you have a review panel holding up the game while they adjudicate a point in quarters 1,2,3 and when the margin is 50+ points, but NOT get them involved in changing wrong decisions and missed frees in the 50 meter arc during the last 2 minutes of the game when the margin is less than 12 points. OH REALLY!
