I think there are two main arguments against Carr. The first is that he's been tainted with the same brush of Hinkley and Koch. The second is that we could've done an exhaustive search.
If Carr is a ruthless guy who wants to win and his playing style and coaching has always been that way then he will have his own way to coach. I mean the dude went to the Ramsgate to kick A$$ and take names. He's loved for that. The second one is fair enough but if he's a bloody good coach and has been in the running for a few jobs, then the home factor might be too irresistible.
He's that half back flanker, hard nut type midfielder that got as much as he could out of himself and always sacrificed and worked for the betterment of the team. I can't see that changing when he becomes head coach.
I'm pretty excited but its going to be an 8 months of edging. Up until then, it's foreplay until the real deal is unleashed and we start the carr.
****in sick. More guys who have no AFL experience outside of Port. Can't possibly lose.Good chat with Jacob Surjan this morning on SEN. I definitely think he'll be part of Josh's team.
Surj was a development coach with us prior to taking the North job.****in sick. More guys who have no AFL experience outside of Port. Can't possibly lose.
Hope not. Have heard horrible things about him from people at North.Good chat with Jacob Surjan this morning on SEN. I definitely think he'll be part of Josh's team.
If they did, they don't now.Did Hawthorn fans have concerns about Mitchell taking over from Clarkson?
What kind of things?Hope not. Have heard horrible things about him from people at North.
I have no problem with getting some good parts of the band back but Surjan wasn't one of them.Hope not. Have heard horrible things about him from people at North.
Is that supposed to be a criticism or a compliment?Hope not. Have heard horrible things about him from people at North.
And Schoey?Good chat with Jacob Surjan this morning on SEN. I definitely think he'll be part of Josh's team.
And?Surj was a development coach with us prior to taking the North job.
I was responding to your comment regarding no AFL experience. He has had some exposure to the AFL system coaching wise albeit in a developmental role. And?
Good chat with Jacob Surjan this morning on SEN. I definitely think he'll be part of Josh's team.
Yeah, I'd give that a goey.And Schoey?
You'll take Brad Ebert and be grateful.Would absolutely love Schoey back. Probably the single biggest reason for our 2020 run.
That said, I do want ideas from outside Port too. People that come from clubs that have been successful in the last 20 years.

Realistically these sort of plans are doomed to fail, not just for the individuals involved but for the club in general.Hawthorn brought in Sam Mitchell as an appointed successor to Clarkson on the back of being an assistant for a Premiership winning team.
At the start of July 2021, when they announced the succession plan of Mitchell taking over in 2023, it didn't even last until the end of July that they announced that Mitchell would actually coach in 2022. And they'd pay Clarkson to sit on his arse for a year.
Their succession plan was a miserable failure. Although it only took them 4 weeks to realise and just move on to the new coach. cough
Remember when Surjan just stopped and laid down on the ground and got stretchered off for absolutely no apparent reason or explanation as to why, then played next week?
**** that was funny and bizarre.
